To be honest, I'm a "want to be" 19Kelo. I always wanted to be a tanker but never made it. My name is a bit misleading, I confess. I indulge myself in fantasy from time to time. A mine plow seems a bit boring for my taste but a hornblower such as yourself might find excitement in it. Remember, take your time modeling, there is no rush. If you do rush you'll only be angry with yourself in the end. If you catch yourself being lazy it's time for a break. If you want a top quality Model you need to put top quality time into it. Your off to a great start with your Panther G and the sky is the limit so long as you continue to grow and learn ...... and take your time.

Hey Tanker,

No offense taken, thanks for your honest critique and yes I’m a 19Kelo, I take it you are too or were? I’ve got two new projects on the bench now, converting Tamiya’s Leo 1a4 to a Danish Leo 1A5 DK with a mine plow used in the Former Yugoslavia and a T-55a converted to an IDF Tran 5.

Nice first attempt after a 7 year layoff. The mudding is a great effect from the rear! The side view looks as though it was difficult to add the mudding to the top of the tracks, almost like you got a little lazy on the mudding effect. You should have stuck to it a little longer and finished the job, it would have really added to the model. The fenders caught my eye, they don't seem to be authentic. Did you do some work on them? They seem to slightly detract from the model. I can't quite put my finger on as to why. Your showing a well worn tank, the exaust is even rusted but you show no battle scars. A well used tank like your attempting to portray should have some battle damage. Adding a German tanker would really accent the tank and add to the realism. Over all it's a nice tank but I'd bet you can do much better; you know you can do much better. It was your first time back and you may have rushed to finish it up. When you do more work on it, and I'd bet you are, post it again. I'd love to see what you do with it. You wanted a true assessment, I hope I didn't offend you. Everyone else chose to praise you but that's not what you wanted was it? You wanted to know what you can do to better your modeling skills. Your skills may be better suited for modern armor, an M1 possibly. Do you have Tankers Blood in your veines? Keep up the good work, you'll get better with each project.

Nope, this is my first atempt since high school (and its light years ahead), I have been reading FSM and this forum religiously, and I must confess I started this about 6 months ago so I wasn’t modeling for 6.5 years. LOL.

Let’s see, the kit was the Tamiya early Ausf. G in 1/35th. A Jordi Rubio barrel, Caviler zimm set (I feel like its kind of cheating), Eduard P.E. set. I scratch built the “running boards” (for lack of a better term) and cleaning rod storage tube on the left side out of Brass and thinned down the fenders with a motor-tool so I could battle damage them all. I finished it all of with Tamiya acrylics. It depicts a Panther from the 5th SS Panzer Div., Poland 1944. Thanks for all the great comments, and your welcoming me into this great forum.

Nicely done! Is it 1/35th or 1/72 scale? What Brand? It certainly went together well, and your weathering is outstanding. Can't wait to see more!

Great job...!!! If this is your first in years then I can't wait till you get back into the swing of it. Very impressive... The zim looks great and the weathering certainly good. The mud is very nice. I really like what you have done...

Great job Swernda. I know what it's like being away from the hobby for awhile.

Swerdna, looking at the pics, again (it was late last night, sorry!). I wanted to comment on the mud effect you've achived...It is really fantastic! Really nice job with the way it just seems to hang on the wheels and the tracks.

Congrats.

I used a resin set that I epoxied on and used squadron green on the joints, I don’t remeber the manufacture offhand, Thanks for the great comments.

Robert, you and I did the same thing at almost exactly the same time. I went back in and deleted the links from my post!! LOL

There you go, swerdna. It really looks terrific. I just finished up the zimmerit on my Panther A. I know how tough it is to get that stuff even. You did a great job!

To post the pics, put the link in just like you did, but put [ i m g ] PutLinkHere [ / i m g ] but leave the spaces out of the meta commands. You can also go to the reply to topic page and click on the icon of the little picture and it will insert the commands for you. But you will have to position them around your link.

Welcome to the dark side forum. You're off to one heck of a start with that beautiful Panther.

First I'll anser your question about posting the pics. You place the url's that you have listed above between the following tags , leave out the spaces, they're just there for display purposes only.

Nice looking Panther !!! You've done a very nice job on your return to modelling beasty.

Thanks for sharing with us.
Happy Modelling and God Bless Robert

That looks great. I like the muddy look. Your absence from the armor scene certainly doesn't show.
