Shellback

I kicked around the idea of using parts of the interior fromthis kit in a Tamiya kit . Looks like the basics are there and can be inhanced with some scratch building . I bought one of these when they first came out . $ 24 sounds like a good price to me .

It seems to be a good price...looked up the kit on Ebay to see what they`re goin` for and the average price was about $50.00....ranging frow $22.00 to $80.00. I`m fighting the urge to start this kit because I have too many GB`s going on and one that ends today and I still have to finish the kit by midnight! My son saw it and wants to help me with it so he can use it for a history project for school.

That price seems good to me.

I built the kit a few years ago, the major errors are the turret shape but hardly noticeable and the ammo stowage. The kit has 3off side by side when it should be 4off. A lot can be added by some fun scratch building. here's a link to my build

Thanks Kenny...nice build! What shade of green did you use on the last 3 pics? I tried to post the pic I`m talking about but it won`t let me.

Sprue-ce Goose

I must add the comment that the interior of the Academy Tiger I kit is far more complete than the 1969 vintage 1/25 th scale Tamiya Tiger I kit.

Recently, aircraft builders have been getting some very nice kits with full interiors at modest prices - for example: the ROG 1/72 B-17G..

It would be nice if more armor kits had interiors.

I've been considering purchasing and building some 1/25 Polish paper armor kits simply because they have interior details.

Polish paper...?  Hmm...sounds like the start of a joke I prolly heard already, since my name ends in "ski" Stick out tongue All kiddin` aside, I`ve seen some of the paper A/C kits built up...couldn`t tell it was paper just by looking...mostly saw airliners and bigger stuff...may have to check `em out.

Build it oob and enjoy, dont worry about the accuracy. There is a photo-etch set available to dress it up a bit and is reasonably priced also. If you feel the need there is some good info and pics online. Mr. Byrden has a very good site as well as Alan Hamby. Have fun.

......can`t start it yet tho`...have to clean up a few GB`s over in Aircraft forum.....Big Smile

Glad the reviews were of some help.
Re:GBs, I'm in a couple as well and need to complete them before moving on..
I bought the mid-production version from Sprue Brothers during a recent sale but am still sifting thru publications before building the kit.

Sounds like a good price, to me.Big Smile

I'm only just learning about the subtle differences between Tiger I marks, but this website has reviews of that particular kit:

I'm sure the more knowledgeable armor buffs can give more detailed reviews.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for the link Goose...I read a few of the reviews and it seems like a winner as far as going together nicely. It`s mentioned a few times that the interior isn`t all that acurate but looks pretty darn good and busy to me. I guess I`m gonna unwrap this *** and take a look in the box...can`t start it yet tho`...have to clean up a few GB`s over in Aircraft forum.....Big Smile

Thanks David. I`m not that concerned about being totally accurate, I just want a good fitting kit. With all the dtail parts in the box, it`s hard to believe that alot of stuff is missing! I do believe you...just saying...

vonryan

great price troublemaker66. with a full interior. and might add the only game in town if you want one with an interior if you want i reworked the instructions so i could add all 92 rounds and ammo bags for the 3 to 5 thousand MG ammo I'm just needing to find the early vision block for the driver it's the late and you need early. oops unless you have a late Tiger.

Clay

Nope...says "Early Version" on the box. I`m in no way a "rivet counter" so whatever vision block is in the box is what I`m using...if I decide to build this kit it`ll be OOB.

Exterior is OK but there are more accurate ones available; the fine detail looks clunky. There is one particular 1.48 Tiger that actually has better detail.

Interior is quite poor in terms of accuracy, plus a lot of things are missing.

It is, however, a large and enjoyable project.

Hey Guys!

I build aircraft 99.99% of the time but came across this kit today at a vintage toy store. The kit # is 1348 and looks awesome so I grabbed it for $24.00. My questions are, was that a good price, has anyone built this kit and what is their opinion of it if so? It looks like quite a challenge, especially for me since I haven`t built a tank in years. You`re opinions will help me decide whether to give it a shot or put it up for sale.

So...whaddaya think?
