Thanks for posting that build. It's a masterpiece.
Modeling is an excuse to buy books.
I realize that this thread is three years old, but I want to thank you for it anyway. I'm working on a tiny 1:100 T-35 model with no instructions and have not been able to figure out how to mount the frame around the main turret. When I found your photos, all my problems were solved.
Thanks for posting and keep up the awesome work. I wish my larger scale stuff looked half as good as yours.

Another nice build. Wow these tanks were huge, surprised they could even move.
Keep it up.
Nice to see the finished set of pics on this one Dave! Got to love the look of these 'land ship' designs even if they weren't very practical in actual combat.

I have seen this one built before and it just become a must have; You are setting a new standard :)
Thank you for sharing!
Very Best Regards

Just checked Wikipedia,they say 11
Wow! How many men did it take to crew that thing?
Definitely a 'clean' build
Paint looks great and good idea getting the new track link kit. I always liked the kit supplied links but after seeing these . . . Much Better !

Awesome work. Love this vehicle and you are really doing her proud.

Thanks guys, and Gamera, this one is going to be nice a clean, after all, it's for the parade. ;)
wow looking awesome.
Yeah sharp work on the pre-shading. She looks so nice it's almost a shame to dirty her up now.
Nice-preshade and paint effects on the monster!
Before putting on the side shields, I decided to paint it black for a pre shading as well as a base color for the rubber tires. Then after assembly I primed the rest of the model in Krylon Black Indoor Outdoor and lightly painted two layers of Model Master European Dark Green and the same paint in a lighter shade, concentrating on central panels. Just for fun, I added the tracks and turrets to see how she looks....also a figure for scale.
Thanks for the info Ixion, those are some good references. Though, I'm afraid I am too far along to make the corrections. Perhaps next time I start a project I look into it with greater detail.
Agreed...Nice process....Good luck David....:)
NIce progress David, tracks are looking good. I think the Russians were determined to hold the world record for most turrets on an active-duty tank in the '30s!
There are a few issues with this kit you may want to address. There should not be a rear mounted MG on the main turret, only a MG flap. This turret was taken from the T-28 kit, which does have the MG as shown, but it was omitted on the T-35. Also, there should not be tow horns mounted on the transmission hatches, these should be grab handles instead. The 45mm gun turrets have a vision slit on both sides, but they should have ports only on their right sides. The turrets are difficult to fit on the hull, be prepared for some surgery.
There are several other small details as well, if you are interested.

Yeah great work on the treads David, somehow they do look better with a little more sag though. Ah well...
What I think she needs is about five or so more turrets- take it up to an even ten maybe
David Maddog Actually they will be visible.
Actually they will be visible.
Duh. I looked again at the picture on page 1.

I've painted the tracks in a Testors Gloss Black spray can and then lightly airbrushed with MM enamel Steel. Continue work on the upper hull.
You won't see the slack with the sides on anyway. correct?
Yeah, the tracks look sweet!
I notice not much slack in historical photo refs as well so I made mine pretty tight on the IT-28.
Slack in tracks looks so good though
Thanks guys, I just finished the other set of tracks. Upon further review, most pictures of the T-35 showed that there was barely any slack in the track, I decided to take one link out to tighten it up just a bit. More pictures to come!
