Hetzer Late - WIP

I will start a Hetzer Late of Academy, 1/35. This time the Construction will be "Straight of Box". No add-ons because it have received positive comments in some Reviews that the kit is excellent in all aspects, fine!.

Excellent precision in the fixing and very good detail! The spare tracks of the rear will be put after of painting.

Ready the wheels and part of the Hull. The tracks are curved so they can give the heavy weight effect when installed.

This one's comging together pretty fast, but then the Hetzer doesn't exactly have a lot of parts to it so that shouldn't be surprising. Looking good, always have a soft spot for the 38t family. Smile

Interesting sag on the tracks. I'd think that the forward part should sag as well. Looks more like an Marder H version.

More updates:

Armor ready for paint!. The only problem were the upper hatches which I arranged by filling the hollows with the method of "blended plastic" using glue. I also show by separated the parts that will be painted before they are assembled wich will also include the machine gun.

Finally was added a tow cable and chains of Greif (Mexican) and I made a little hole for adding after of painting. The cable (?) of the kit is a simple thread!.

I decided to paint it as Eastern Front version. This because some factory yellow hetzers were school trainers and were rushed to the Eastern Front and received a white wash.

Rodolfo, that's going to be a fine looking model when it's been painted and weathered...I think I'd replace the towing cable with something that doesn't look like thread. Look at real wire rope and see the difference. You can use real wire (anneal it with heat first), or even larger sized nylon twine.

I Applied a mix of Tamiya paintings: desert-yellow XF59 + flat-white XF2 + flat yellow XF3.

I have checked some color pics and the last Hetzer were applied a sand-yellow too. Now I need to lighten the color with white. Using the same mix I added a flat.yellow XF59.

Tracks: Step 1.- A coat of gun-metal of Metalcote (Humbrol). Step 2.- Using pigments - mixing indian-red + toast sienna with Spirit solvent. NOTE: I not finished the tracks yet.

Continue Tracks: Step 3.- Adding pigments toast shadow with Spirit solvent. Step 4.-Dry brush with "polished steel" y "Polished aluminium", both of Humbrol.
