Bofors 40 mm gun section (C2P, Bofors, amo trailer)
Posted by Jendrass on Thursday, December 13, 2012 11:26 AM

Hello everyone ! This is my first post and topic on this forum !

I would like to present You one one of my "lifetime" projects  - the Bofors 40 mm AA gun section used in Polish Army untill 1939.

At first I`ve started to collect disperse pictures of semi-permanent Bofors 40 mm gun. Quite unique version of famous Bofors 40 mm AA gun.  Canon mk 38 was the Polish modification of classic Bofors AA gun designed as smaller and cheaper equivalent of classic Bofors mk 36 gun. Main aim was to ensure the AA protection of industry, rail etc.  whithout need of relocating gun too often.
The main difference is the "Y" shaped gun base - with two movable arms and just one axle. Unfortunately just a few pictures are known, in which details are far from perfect but ... It`s all matter of "heavy thinking" and doing some drawings

Somewhere in 1938, AA manoeuvres in Warsaw:

The AA  gun wiht "Y" base:

Base was incomplete Italeri set and some modest additions:

Than I though that gun should have it`s tractor, so I`ve started to build the C2P

First one, than I decided to build two at once:

Engines, radiators, steering gears ...

Why two C2P tractors ?
Simultaneously amo-equimpent trailer appeared :) First some 3D sketch and that modeling:

and some boxes:

That is how full Bofors gun section appeared. I hope to contiune this project on this forum, so watch carefully  and wish me luck Gents ! :)

:) If anyone wants to see, how does it look now :
