Hi,

Daniel, thank you for a lot of great pics and advice. By the way, how did you make this great water?

I have weathered the AAV, but it didn't turn out as I expected. Too faded and I believe that I weathered the amtrack's suspension too much. It doesn't look bad. I just expected something else :(

I'll post the pictures soon.

Also, I have another AAV in my stash, so I'll give the just-came-ashore look another try (:

Andys,
Typically the topside, depending on the vehicle’s age appears faded, especially when driving ashore.  For the initial moments of feet dry from a point just above the waterline the AAV looks shinny and new.  Once a bit of driving was done though sand and dirt clung to the freshly wet hull.  Be careful with the amount of seaweed/kelp you apply as we avoided those beds because they would clog the water jets.
I attached links to pics of AAVs that may be helpful.  Be sure to post some pics of your work, looking forward to seeing your trac.

Here are some pics of the same kit I completed for a buddy that was headed to the AAV Program Office.

Dragon 1:72 AAVP7A1 Weathering
Posted by Andys on Sunday, December 30, 2012 12:04 PM

Hi,

I have build and painted Dragon's 7233 AAVP7A1 RAM/RS w/EAAK in 3-color camouflage (it's called NATO, isn't it?) and now I am going to weather it, but since this is my first model of a vehicle that is exposed to water, I do not how to weather it. I'd like to depict the vehicle as it has just reached the shore, so water streaks,  some seaweed in the suspension would be good. How to achieve these?

Thanks for help
Andrew
