I have to say that I am impressed with what you guys turned out in one weekend. Myself, well I got a little ambitious, plus I had some things pop that took up a lot of my weekend. Anyway, after weekend #2 for me I just need to paint. Here is a link to some pictures of what I have done with my T34:

http://home.comcast.net/~williamehler/t34_85_build.htm

as always, I would love to hear comments/criticisms.

Thanks for joining me on this build guys. Ed and Chris, I love the pics. You guys did some impressive building for such a short time span. Good job!!Big Smile [:D]

thanks again,
edog

the perfect kitbash in that box though........ I've done 4 airfix kits and the only good one is their WW1 tank mk. 1. very decent kit, unlike their sherman which had part numbers on the exterior of the vehicle, etc.

wildwilliam:
thanx 4 posting the pic !
it's not the clearest. is it ? Blush [:I]
that's what i get 4 being in a hurry, but at least u can see a bit of something, lol !
it's 'airfix' scale, not 1/76 or 1/72... approx. 1/74 ! ah, England !

Chris:
LOL ! it's typical airfix, looks good enough 2 represent whatever it's supposed 2 b w/o much in the way of additional detail... perfect 4 the weekend build !
& now i can keep working on it 4 the towed gun build ...

thanx 4 ur kind words!

Chris,
gee, it looks so much smaller than the 'other' picture you posted!
Tongue [:P]

cute little thing, isn't it!?

pics are good enough if you are borrowing camera etc.
it has taken me quite a while to get my pics up to the current level of mediocre!
big breakthru was getting the software loaded on my home PC so i did not
have to bring the camera to the office to get a look at them.
(the camera, technically, belongs to my employer. i have it on loan)
the faster feedback has been a great help.
shoot a few dozen pics w/ various flash and zoom sttings, then look them over,
see what was working best and try more like that.

but the point is the daimler looks good.
AND you did a plane the same weekend ?!?!?

I'll manage to take some pics this weekend, so maybe sometime next week I'll have the time to post them. Depends on when I can get to a scanner :)

Bill,
looking forward to the pictures.
not to worry, sounds like you got a lot of work done.
and it was Mrs Bill's birthday after all!

Zokissima,
want to see yours as well.
i had some stuff done on my T-34 from a moth or so ago, so i guess i had a bit of an advantage too!

I managed to put the entire m923 together. I guess it wasn't quite fair, as I did a lot of prep work last week. Either way, the kit went together nicely enough. I'll take some pics this week or weekend and post them when I get the chance. I'm a little busy at work this week, with a lot of late nights, plus I'm taking delivery of a new PC, so not much time left for modelling in the next few days

Well, I got the Flak painted the base color (grey) and the gun painted gunmetal, and I got the Kubelwagen glued up, except for the wheels. But I didn't get any touch up painting done, weathering done, or decals on. Guess I didn't make the cut. But it was a close call!! It was a fun idea, Eric! Thanks.

And congratulations to all of you speed demons! I'll post a couple of pics tonight.

Well, i guess i am finished.
i put some pics on Ron's site, but i cannot get the 'properties' to come up
w/ the location, so i am going to wing it.
it must be my junky browser, because it showa up if i open a netscape browser!

in any case:

i forgot to put the spare links on before i took the pictures. Black Eye [B)]
and i need to blacken the inside of the exhaust pipes.
and i can only hope that the cleverly placed mud globs hide the
terrible join on the rubberband tracks.
they are so tight, i cannot believe they have not ripped the drive wheels
and idlers off!

it was fun to do one quick & dirty after 2 months on the Panther.

i see the wash left a few tough lines, and the decals silvered pretty badly.
i would say 'not bad for 2 days work',
but, truth be told, i had taken the road wheels off the sprue and sanded them,
and done some work on the hull over a visit to my girlfriend's.
so i am not as fast as you think, Bill. Big Smile [:D]

Chris is the speedy one.
good thing Dwight did not join us, he might have done 3 or 4 !! Tongue [:P]

thanks for the build idea, edog!
i had fun.

well, the decals were in real rough shape!
had one set (of numbers) completelt come apart.
the set i got on sivered a bit.
and the tracks are TIGHT!
i guess you are supposed to stretch the rubberbands first?
and the join on them looks like complete crap.
this will take some clever photography!

don't give up, Bill!
plenty of time left.

Well, you guys have certainly put me in my place! I was going to post some pics I took of the Flak 38 and Kubelwagen boxes and sprues to show what kits I'm working on, but wow! I don't see much point to that with you guys finishing up already!! lol And it sounds like you guys aren't even building oob!

Needless to say, I didn't do too much yesterday. Today I've gotten the Flak 38 glued together and primered {I don't have ANY idea how I'm going to paint the stupid gun metallic after I paint the rest of the thing. I've also glued the transport trailer together (except for the wheels) and put the first side of primer on it. I haven't started the Kubelwagen yet. I'm still trying to decide how I want to paint the Flak. I've done so much dunkelgelb lately, I think I'm going to do something in grey. Don't have a clue about the Kubel, yet.

Have fun, all

Eric,
nothing to it, if you have absolutely nothing else to do for a weekend!
:-)

All,
got the green down.
lightened it a bit w/ flat white & shot everything that had to be green.
then i added a bit of 'Deck Tan' (tamiya XF-55, i think) and sprayed over everything
but the wheels, bottom and under the fenders.
then i added some more deck tan, and shot the horizontal surfaces again.
then i added some more, and shot some highlights.

looks ok, i think, picking up some gradations in the 'monochrome'
paint scheme, trying to keep the bottom parts dark,
and the parts that get the most sun lightest.
now i have to let it dry for a bit before the wash.

the wheels i tried to mask w/ my circle template, but they were off a bit.
so i did them freehand w/ the airbrush.
came out ok, and it saved a ton of time,
which is important for this build!

now i will start washing my tracks.
or maybe dry brushing would be quicker . . .

Chris,
you are out of hand !! Big Smile [:D]
looking good, and speeding to the finish.

edog,
i appreciate the link. but it is too late for much reference on this one.
more of a glue, glue, glue and glue project for me. Tongue [:P]

All,
i ran out of steam lat night around 1 am, so i did not get the primer on.
but i finished up the assembly this morning,
and have shot a coat of flat black primer on everything.
including the tracks, which i remembered once the airbrush
was cleaned and i was in the shower. Evil [}:)]Black Eye [B)]

i should be able to get some green on this in another 1/2 hour or so.
only one piece 'disappeared' during assembly.
the little conical 'bump' that goes on the side of the turret.
i looked and looked, as i thought it HAD to be on the bench top,
but no sign of it.
so i replaced it w/ a drop of thick CA.
i can't really even tell it from the other!

i closed the gaps around the louvered side vents from the inside
with styrene rod and thick CA.

maybe some photos later!

well, I'm basically done except for weathering and a base(if I do one) i got a very easy way to make bases for 1/72 vehicles. you take an older sour cream container lid (the ones with straight edges on the side) and carve 2 circles of styrofoam ou of styrofoam plates glue them(I use white glue) in the lid and there you got a base that you can do anything with!!!

This is how far i got today. I am off to a bad start since i thought i would have more time than i actually did to work on the kit. tomorrow will be the hard part. I am planning on replacing the gas tank brackets with scratch built onesBig Smile [:D]. Other than some minor details that you guys may be able to pick out on the instructions that i marked on, there is not much else to do.

Bill,
just wanted to wish the Mrs. a belated happy B-day.

Ed, check this site out: (sorry if it is a little late)
