Well thanks for the color input I was really liking how it was turning out for my first real attempt at shadings and proper use of air brush

i went through the anal color paint stage. so your M-26 is OD and perhaps darker than some folks think it should be. if you weather with powders, dust it down and "rub the powder in" and that will lighten it. as doug mentioned, it will look different in sunlight vs flourescent lighting, vs 100 watt incandescent room heaters (ie light bulbs) vs how close you look at it vs what it is sitting on.

i am working on, among a dozen others, a 1/35 VOSPER. unlike the MAS with the splinter camo and red/white id stripes, its all the same gray above the water line. i bought 3: the correct gray for the hull, a slightly darker gray for the deck and a slightly lighter gray for the deck fittings and wheel house so i would have some contrast.

btw at our last meeting we had a presenter who was on the us/russian equipment reduction inspection teams and saw A LOT OF russian armor. while they are dark green out of the factory they get dirty and russians don't have wash racks so they will "wash" them in muddy water holes and wipe them down with rags soaked in diesel. after a while they are an ochre looking color. so.............

Don't worry about it.  The Tamiya OD is fine.  There are more opinions about the correct shade of OD as there are modelers. I often put a little German dark yellow, or "dunklegelb" as some like to call it,  I prefer the English term, just to lighten it, but airbrush it randomly over the darker straight OD as part of my painting style.

I remember looking at some US tanks at a museum at Ft. Hood some time ago and noticing that the shade of OD would apparently change as I walked around them.  This would seem to change from lighter to darker on the same side of the tank depending on my angle and the sun's, also if I was looking down on them, or if it was in shadow.

As far as I know there was no can of paint issued of "olive drab", the factories mixed it according to a ratio using a couple of colors.  I'm sure I'll be corrected if I'm wrong, and I probably am.

If you wish, any weathering you do will change the look as well.  Don't abandon hope with it just yet, and remember, it still may be accurate or close enough.

As a side note.  My father spent WWII in the pacific on one ship, for 4 years and his only comment on the color of his ship was, "I don't know, grey I guess".   BTW, it went though about 4 different "measures" or camouflage schemes during that time.

The sad part I already now painted it with the tamiya olive drab. Iam gonna live with it and will just buy another one down the road and do it the proper faded green color

The guy at the American Armored Museum who owns a few WWII American tanks says that the correct color for US WII tanks is NOT the "brownish" OD, but actually a lighter shade, on the pale green side. I know Polly S used to make a killer shade for that color, but they're not around anymore. It's rather a light, faded drab green.

That's a great kit. Know that for WW2 versions, you need to omit the infantry telephone box on the rear hull.  Also, when you glue on the shell ejection hatch on the turret's left wall, smooth in the lip with some putty.  See here

Besides that, the model goes together fantastically.

Here are some galleries for your inspiration

Though the colour is listed as Olive Drab, Vallejo Model Air Olive Drab may not be the best match as it is rather brown compared to other brands.
