Thanks!  and thanks for the link.   Danville is like a 4 hour drive from DC but I wouldn't be surprised if I got up early and made the drive.  More Cold War than WW2 there right?

I totally agree about the Air museum at Dulles and am embarrassed to say that I just heard about this museum a few months ago.  I am making a special trip to DC just to see this museum and maybe get down to the USMC museum in Quanitico.   Thanks!

Go to the American Armored Museum in Danville, Virginia---you won't be disappointed! Here's the LINK I posted to my trip there. Enjoy!

you will be disappointed if your going to the Smithsonian to see Armor or even aircraft from WWII the air and space museum as large as it is does have some really nice stuff like a V2 rocket thats about it when it comes to WWII I really couldn't tell you where to go for armor. By the way if your flying into Dulles check out the air and space museum out there thats also part of the Smithsonian heres the website

RFI for Aberdeen and Ft. Lee

Greetings,

I am in the process of making the motherload of all WW2 Youttube documentaries since I have recently been to about 5 battlefields and dozens of museums. I am planning a trip to WDC to see the Smithsonian museums and need to know before I get in a rental car whether or not I should drive to Aberdeen to see what's left outdoors, as well as Ft. Lee.  Is there anything at these places that the public can see?  What is left at Aberdeen?  We have the best air museums in the world thanks to pvt donations and celebrity involvement (ie., Paul Allen) but don't seem to care about armor as much even though we have some very rare examples from WW2.  Can anybody help?
