M4A4 Sherman
Posted by Metalblock on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 8:45 AM

Hi everyone. This is one of my latest works. The old Dragon 1/35 M4A4 Sherman. This is quite an old kit so I had to find some replacement parts from the parts box to make it look a little better (bogies, PE brush guards and road wheels). I also added some welds, tools straps and some other small details lacking from the kit. I also hollowed out the headlights and added lenses using clear epoxy but it looks dull in the pics.

The decals have turned yellow and brittle so I had to handpaint the markings. Didn't turn out great but I guess I have to live with it.Stick out tongue

Painted and weathered using Tamiya Acrylics.

Probably not up to the standards of the residents here but here goes...

Comments are welcome.

I think you sell yourself short. It looks pretty darn good to me and the weld beads add to the detail.

I don't know if it's a flash, but in the last picture the yellow on the top of the turret looks glossy.

Cool, it's a Sherman so I like her! Hope you'll be posting more work!

Thanks everyone for taking the time to comment.

Tigerman: Find that surprising, too. It is not really that glossy in reality. Maybe a bit more of flat clear is necessary.

Gamera: Good to hear that you like Shermans, too. I more of a Sherman fan myself although I have built a few german armor, too.

Again, thanks.

I don't think the markings look bad at all!? Good for you for not being defeated!!! Super Angry

Nice job! I think tha even though this is an old kit, it's still a pretty good kit, overall!

What's with the yellow top? Never seen that before? Is that part of some particular of one theatre of war or operation?

Doog: The paint scheme was used by the Chinese 1st Tank Battalion in Burma. One of the few unique camo schemes for a sherman.

Thanks for the comments.
