Heavy Armored Car ADGZ Late ~ AMG # 35502

Since I was hanging in the GB section for a longtime and not really perusing this forum I didn't notice the gap in the posts.  Looked nice and seamless.  Speaking of looking nice... that sure is.

Well done David, she's really amazing. You have finished it exactly how I imagined it to look.

That sure is a busty lookin' turret on that little rig.

Now 'ya got me wanting one....... (the kit, that is).

 Now I wish I was sitting in a bar in Dublin watching the rain too...... I'm jealous.

 Now I KNOW a good looking build when I see it. Those tires really make it POP! The finish on the machine guns is super and the weathering just right.

It's been a long time since posting, however, I have finished this kit.  Used Mig pigments mixed with water for weathering and umber oil paint.  

I wouldn't say worse than Dragon, just simple and lacking systematic steps, they essentially just show the model and point to the part with its number.  Here she is preshaded.

Looking forward to seeing this one all painted up Dave. Sounds like you've found a kit-maker with instructions worse than those from Dragon.

Primed with all of the wheels, I used Krylon Grey Primer.  Next step will be a preshade, which is not my regular routine but I thought to give it a try.

Here I have the 2nd jack installed, which went much better after fiddling with the first one, as well as the front notek light, reflectors and 3 speaker horn.

Here is a bracket for what I believe was used to keep the doors propped open.  This is a two piece PE installment, make sure to install the latch piece (part that sticks out) before the bracket, I did the reverse and couldn't install the latch.

Here is the turret, the left gun wouldn't fit through the mantlet so I had to widen it.

Ready for paint!

Terry, at first glance on the sprue I too wasn't sure what those pieces were for and the instructions didn't really show their addition to the model clearly.  That's why I always ready the instructions carefully before starting anything.

So I've added more details.  The hinges for the doors and windows are from a piece in the kit that was cut into sections.  I used Pro Weld to soften the plastic and then pressed it down to fuse it to the hull.

Here I had to drill holes for a part, not sure if it's a mirror or reflector so if anyone could educate me.  I used a small ruler and measured 3mm from the corner down, marked with a pencil and marked 7mm down with the next hole.  This piece goes on all 4 corners.

The clamps for the jack was very difficult.  As is the straps would not full fit all the way around the jack to latch so I had to shave down some plastic for it to fit.  I then ran into the issue of the straps not touching the hull, so I had to sand more on the base of the jack to get it closer to the hull.  I managed to break a strap after bending it too much.

The MG-34 mold had a ball at the base of the barrel which made me realize the gun needed to be inserted from the inside.  So I drilled out the hole and through the turret ring inserted the barrel and glued with Pro Weld.

The PE behind the muffler took a while to figure out how to bend, the instructions were rather vague and showed the piece at odd angles.

Nice work on the PE details on this one David.

Terry, I'll look forward to seeing your progress.  Thanks all for the interest.  Here are just a few shots of work with some of the PE, for the jerry can racks and mg barrel.  I put the barrel pe under heat before bending to make it softer.  So far so good.  I drilled out the barrel as well.  The racks bent really well, when bringing the corners together they sort of made a snap, which kept them in place.  Beware, the top piece may look square but on side is slightly longer than the other.  I was unaware of this and already glued them in place, so the rectangle rack is slightly longer.

Here is some work on the kit.  Added some detail PE and the drive shafts.  The two body halves didn't go together well at the doors, so I had to use some CA glue and sand to even it out.

I'll be watching too, AND wishing I was sitting in a bar in Dublin......

Have to admit this one was tempting to me as well but ultimately decided against it. Glad to see one get built up though, will be following this with interest!

I thought for sure this was another paper panzer.They actually built this one.
