Tamiya M51

I finished this a couple of days ago, one of the more pleasurable builds I've done in quite a while.  The kit is very well engineered, and fit is superb. Mine is largely OOB, with just a few misc. bits added. I'll be grabbing these up any time the oppurtunity presents itself, as the kit is an excellent basis for any number of conversions.

The pics:

I'd recommend this kit to most anyone, easy enough for a beginner, but accurate and a good platform for enhancements.

It's a fun build, and I spent less time on the onerous stuff, like suspension. I'm about to tackle Dragon's HVSS for my M50 build, and I'm less than anxious.

Many thanks. Had I not had to do a re-paint, it would havebeen one of my quickest builds, easily.

COOL! This is one mean-looking Sherman for sure!

What color did you use for the base coat?

Thanks, doog. Tamiya calls for their own TS46 rattle can color, and I liked it.

Is that the crystal ball or the stash telling you that.

Crystal ball at the moment, got some stash thinning to do first. I'll be doing some quick assessments soon to make room. I can see both early and late M4A3E8s, an Israeli M4A1E8 posed in Jerusalem, a very late M50 (although the one I'm doing now is pretty late production) and a very late M51 since Dragon's -E8 bogies give me hives.

That's enough for the next several years, and I've got a few more builds in the lineup as well, maybe enough for a lifetime......
