TRUMPETER M-1078 4X4 TRUCK WITH ARMORED CAB
Posted by waynec on Monday, April 15, 2013 4:30 PM
this is not a tank build. my first serious truck and once again i learned a lot. painting, decaling, and even weathering need to be done with the chassis before adding the cab and bed components. maybe even some big subassemblies need to be painted prior to attaching to the frame though weathering can wait until the entire chassis is done.just a lot of nooks and crannies (or trannies in this case). no engine which is fine as there are no provisions to tilt the cab forward. seems all the warwheels make me want to do a rolled over in a ditch scene so the undercarriage can be seen. there are many more including 4x4s, 6x6s, 8x8s and tractor/trailer rigs in the stash.

Another nice build. Exposed chassis vehicles def. require some thought  prior to assembly.

I need one of those for my drive to work.

Out of the box?  Looks good.

yes OOB. too bad the cab interior and door interior is quite sparse. also the hatch for the gun tub is not a separate piece so you can't have a gunner, at least not easily. also wish it came with canvas back or at least bows to make a canvas cover. BUT it was fun and a good first truck build.

let me clarify "this is not a tank." i mean it doesn't build like a tank kit does. there are more oieces in the chassis assy than even my afv club SHO'T KAL. indy track doesn't count but taht would be close in part count.

Nice work! Good addition there to your war wheels collection.

Only thing that leaps out to me is you should toss something in the bed for a more used look!

Outstanding work, Wayne! The model rocks, but I love the groundwork too--it's uncomplicated, but perfectly complimentary to the build!

thanks to everyone for the complements. more warwheels in the queue

hey doog

it's one of my 4 generic bases i use to photograph; modeling clay painted close to ground color and model rr ground cover though i think this is more real dirt. rocks are cast and painted with woodland scenes paints. i think these were my first rock castings so what you see are the biggest survivors, the rest is in the scree box. i will be doing a base building demo for my club in june. looking forward to the triclor normal truck and the M-1083 6x6 once i get some silly putty camo practice and get comfortable with the new airbrush

i was debating taking bases for some of my armor to the contest this weekend but now i will take them. hell i'm taking my M-1126 STRYKER which everybody seems to think is really good except me.
