I would say not to even worry about it fraying--you can always just re-twist the end and it will be god as new. I've done this several times with wire cables and it works perfectly every time. And just use gap-filling superglue for the plastic part.

The riggers at the shipyard I worked at would wrap the wire rope (its actual name) cable with wire and then cut right thru the wrapped section with an abrasive cutting wheel, like a grinder. littletimmy's advice to use a Dremel cutting wheel is the same thing in miniature. It wont crimp and distort the ends of your cable.

Yes it is a cable for a Merkava. I got a spool of cable from a war gaming hobby store - pretty inexpensive too - but of course I have to cut it. I wondered about wrapping it tightly with a bit of tape or putting super glue on first and then cutting.
Maybe I need to invest in proper wire cutters instead of the good old pliers.

Your talking about tow cables for AFV's correct. I haven't use metal cable yet, so this is just a guess. Maybe it can be cut with normal cutters and then add a drop of super glue to the cut end. It would really need to go inside the plastic piece, so that would have to be drilled out. Once in there, is should hold fine.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

A cutoff wheel in a "Dremell" or some such grinder will do the trick.

Watch where you put your fingers !

And don't forget EYE PROTECTION !!!

Dont worry about the thumbprint, paint it Rust , and call it "Battle Damage"

1/35 cable cutting

I have some metal "cable" in 1/35 to replace the kit-supplied string but I need to cut it to size.
Is there a way to cut it without the end fraying?
When it's cut I have to glue a plastic bit to the cable ( a loop that attaches to the tank).
Thanks in advance. You guys know everything.
