it probably comes with plastic ammo but I would prefer to spruce it up a bit.

As Rob says, it would depend how accurate you want to be. To the eye, I would guess the size might not be that different, at least in diameter. The 88 shells might be a bit longer. If your happy to use them knowing that are not 100% then I would say go ahead.

If you do want to be 100%, both Tamiya and AFV Club do some brass L71 ammo.

The Pak43 used the same ammo as the King Tiger which were longer than the other 88mm ammo.

Pak 75mm shells have no "shoulder" as an 8.8cm shell.  Don't sell yourself short.  These AM kits are cheap and easily available.  8.8cm Pak 43 ammo would look very different than 75mm Pak ammo
