Hi guys,
I recently got the urge to grab a simple kit and enjoy building from the git-go rather than fight the mental block of other projects much further along. The one I seized was Tamiya's old Su-85, early vintage and a lot of fun to whack together.
I was wondering about adding some quick superdetailing -- can anyone recommend a diagram or detail source for plumbing the external fuel drums of a T-34 type hull? I have not come across any projects on line as yet where this has been added, though research is continuing.
I was thinking about doing a winter scheme and have been researching the "hair spray method" and the new AK chipping fluids. I found a video tutorial on using them but the effect appearing in the video was one of blurring rather than chipping, as if paint had been smoothly abraided rather than struck and chipped. The effect I have associated with hairspray in the past is the one below, a pic I found many years ago and cannot remember where, though it was probably right here...
This is definitely not a softly blurred or rubbed-looking effect... Do any of the armour experts here recognise this technique? Is it hairspray? Can the AH Heavy Chipping Effects fluid produce this kind of sharp demarcation?
It's all experimental, of course, I'm just looking for pointers!
(The pic above, BTW, I have always felt represents one of the finest worn finishes I have ever seen on any armor kit! Kudos to the artist!)
Cheers, hoping for a signpost on this particular road,
Mike/TB379
