Totally agree with Gino, I saw the test shots of the AFV M109A6 and it was outstanding. I assume based on the layout of the sprues, you will see the original M109 from AFV next. Based on the A2 and the A6 coming I would wait for the AFV version as it is the best of the available kits in the A2 version.

Riich Model has announced an M109A6 Paladin with full interior.  Again, not an M109 and not the same interior as an M109.  I hope it does come out.  So far it is just vaporware.

AFV Club has an M109A6 Paladin coming out within a couple months as well.  They showed some test shots a few days ago.

Well Riich models is supposed to be coming out with a 1/35 scale M109 probably next year with a interior.

I'm not impressed.

It is not really worth the price if you ask me.  You can get the Italeri kit for much less (around $25 on eBay) and get a few extra stores from the spares bin or somewhere else for much less.

I personally would get the Italeri one and add the M109 specific parts to an AFV Club M109A2, a much better kit.

Or wait for AFV Club to put one out.

Bronto
If you can find it, Trakz used to produce an interior for the Italeri M-109.  They made 2 sets, one a turret interior, and one a lower hull interior.

The Trakz sets are for an M109A2 which had a very different interior than an M109.  They would be a good base to start, but would still need a lot of work.

For me the interior would be a big point - you seldom see a M109 in Vietnam with the turret doors closed. Wonder if somebody will produce that!

Well, look out friends - the short barreled M109 was recently reissued by Italeri in Europe as M109G - the kit shows versions used by european countries. So the price on e-bay will have to go down, except if you care to get a particular edition from twenty or thirty years ago, which I understand you don't. For me the interior would be a big point - you seldom see a M109 in Vietnam with the turret doors closed. Wonder if somebody will produce that! Thanks for reading, have a nice day

Last time I looked on ebay for an Italeri modern US SPs it seemed like somebody had the market cornered  on those and they were going for several times that $25 rate. The short barel ones were fetching even more. Yes, I suspect that AFV will do a Vietnam M109, now that their A2 is out, but who knows... Yes I agree that the Tamiya boxing is not a cost effective issue, but maybe this will kick the bottom price down a bit on Ebay on the short barreled 109s...

Karl, sorry about the link. Still trying to work the bugs out of using my blasted tablet for posting...

Looks like they have added to sprues from their M113 ACAV kit to revamp the old short barrel Vietnam era M109 SP. I have been wanting a short barrel one of these...
