Well I guess that proves that no matter how much research you always have an awe s#*!. I will always be looking at Tigers in a different light. I suppose it is better to build and be wrong than to not make any mistakes by not building at all. Gosh I might have to use that quote as a signature.

Thanks for the words or encouragement,

Chris B

Chris, just a different point of view here...how many people do you think will know that certain Tigers had their cables on "backwards" or "forward"? I certainly didnt'!

Just saying that probably very few modelers you meet and certainly most "average joes" aren't going to know that your model is "goofed up"---if you even think of it that way? I wouldn't.!   :)

I wish I had ask this question a couple of months ago. There were 6 different tanks on that 3rd link that fits what I started with the exception of how that tool box is mounted on the left rear wall. I used the Aber photoetch and mounted it perpendicular instead of ob an angle. I made my tow cables and they are facing to the rear. The 6 Tigers that had them facing to the rear are 111, 112, 122, 132, 141, and 142.

Thanks for the info and the links. I know they will help me and someone that may do a search on this same subject.

Thanks again,

Chris B

Byrden, thanks for the links. These are pics I've never seen with great detail.

40mm diameter, 1240mm length, and there were 5 of them.

Tamiya's kit unfortunately has the wrong upper deck layout, see http://tiger1.info/kits.html

The cable layout changed during the Afrika period, see tiger1.info/.../cable-direction

So you should decide which Tiger you're building; see tiger1.info/.../501-Africa-list.html

Questions on Tiger tank Equip...
Posted by CA Bolick on Tuesday, August 6, 2013 5:02 PM

Hello all,

I have been working on a Tamiya Tiger Afrika  and I have gotten to the point of adding the Aber clamps to the deck. My question is about the barrel cleaning rods and the rods that are stowed on the left hand side. Does anybody have measurements for these rods; ie, Length and dia. Any good ref photos would be welcomed also.

I have been using the Modeler's Guide to the Tiger Tank and the Tiger 1 and Sturmtiger  in Detail as my ref material.

Thanks,

Chris B
