Tamiya SdKfz 251 Halftrack 1/35

OK, so after some research my kit is a Ausf C version, so it should be set in 1941.

I don´t want to deal with winter weathering and diorama, so this will be the setting:

The SDKFZ belongs to  "The Greater Germany"  (Großdeutschland) Division which  was an élite German Army (Heer) the premier division of the German Army. During the "operation barbarossa". Now, since this happen in June 1941, the weather is much warmer and greener setting, which Im shooting at.

Well, now you've gone and done it....you're "famous"!

Woodland Scenics diorama stuff is certainly a decent brand, but check uot "Joefix Studios"--their stuff is quite simply, gorgeous.

I quite like Woodland scenic stuff myself. I have tried their trees, I plan on trying to make my own when the time comes. I am not sure what the lychee is, do you mean the lichen. That stuff does have some use's. I have a wide mix of Woodland's stuff that I use as appropriate. You might also want to try and get hold of some seafoam and rubberize horse hair, not sure where you would get that over there.

I been disconnected from the forum for a while, just came back from a meeting in South Beach, Miami., so I was only able to connect until now...we had full agenda all days, all day.

What a nice surprise I had when came back.!!  to see that new FSM magazine was delivered during my absence, so as usual I went through it giving it a glance..for some reason I looked at the "Tips of the month" page...and found one a little bit familiar...just to read at the end, it was me!!!

Now that Im starting my diorama, I would like to know what brand is the better to get grass, trees, stone, gravel, etc... since I was criticized for using lychee from Woodland scenics for what was said a "70s technology", so what do you recommend?.. that I can get shop online and shipped to Mexico?

Ye, Eagle90 told me about that. Revell did an Ausf B command vehicle at one point. But these Zveda kits have had some good reviews, the only issue being that the rear interior is actually that of a C. But I really need to add some B's to the collection, so I think next year I will have to get a few, they now do 4 Ausf B variants.

Just a small note for accuracy's sake and not to deter you from the build, but 251 Ausf C's weren't in service in 1939, the first production vehicles entered service in early 1941.

 

Ernst, I think the Ausf B is fine for Poland. I can't find any exact date for the switch over from A to B. 251 production only began in early 39 and the impression I get is that the 2 were built at the same time.

 Which kit have you got, I really need to add some Ausf B's and was thinking about the Zveda kit's, just not sure how easy it would be to correct them.

Bish, Squadron had a sale just this past Wednesday on the Zvezda SdKfz 251 Ausf.B, which I believe is the only plastic Ausf.B kit on the market.  For $15.99 I couldn't resist (plus I needed to place an order for some other stuff anyway!)

That's what I was thinking, wasn't sure as garzonh has both Polish and a Russian figure.

This should be an interesting project, will be watching this. Are you planning on setting your Dio in Poland in 39.

One thing though: Tamiya was mistaken to call the SdKfz 251 a "Hanomag". (Despite what the current wikipedia listing says -- it's bunk)

Hanomag was a manufacturer, not  a vehicle.  You can just call it a SdKfz 251 halftrack or an SPW (Schützenpanzerwagen) or :"ess-pay-vay"
