Hi there!Cool [8D]

It's probably one of murphy's law that when you try several methods and none of them work, the least expected (and the last one) will!!!

I've just finished my IS-2 stalin UZTM, made by "Zvezda". It's not up to the standards of the Dragon kit, but about half the price. I opted to build it out of the box because I wanted somthing that I could work on my airbrush skills. However I did try to fix the front glacis.

I followed coockie sewell (hope I wrote his name right...) article in the last issue of FSM. I drilled the hull and stuck four pieces of metal rod 0.5mm diameter. construction and painting went on untill the time to use the simplefied rubber tracks.

First try: I've built zvezda's Su-100 a few years back and knew what to expect. I hoped that the metal rods would "force" the track to sag. Well that didnt happen exactley like I wanted. Disapprove [V]

Oh.. well, lets try somthing else.Big Smile [:D]

Second try : I tried to use CA and glue the track to return rollers while "wedging" the track with the upper track guard using pieces of eraser cut to size . CA DID'NT WORKAngry [:(!]
It just broke apart.

Ok, no frustration here just try somthing else.Smile [:)]

Third Try: OK this time I'll use rubber glue instead of CA, I kept the eraser "spacers" , let everything dry for an hour or so, and all I got is just a sticky crap between evrything.

Know I'm pissed off!Angry [:(!]

FourthTry: all kind of glues went in!NOTHING! " just glue allready! what's your problem crappie rubber tracks! I swear I'm not getting those Modelkasten's! I will not pay three times more then the tank itself!"

Anger terned into frostration... Angry [:(!]Disapprove [V]Angry [:(!]Disapprove [V] Disapprove [V]Disapprove [V]Disapprove [V]
and sadnessSad [:(]

Fifth try and the last one. after being humilated Black Eye [B)]by the tracks. I saw the light. "TRACKS this is your ARMAGEDON'S DAY, Now I'll show you!" I grabbed the Hair drier (Thank's to my girlfriends idea, now I have long hair Tongue [:P]) I just let it blast and I knew it will be dangerose but I did'nt care... confusion[:0]
Tension began, will I make itBig Smile [:D] or burn itDead [xx(]?!?!?! I tried to keep the anger within and be carefull, and then... I stopped!

Glue didnt work, but heat kept the tracks in place... "YES! I made it" Approve [^] the track sits and sags perfectly!

All it took was a stroke of luck! (and heated air).

Hope you'll try it yourselves and you would'nt have to go all the way long. enjoy!
