M-10 Achilles Tank Destroyer  1/35 AFV Club Kit #35039

Built mostly OOB with Photo etch British Antenna's added.

Painted with Humbrol 155 Olive Drab and Floquil Enamel Weathered Black.

Weathering done in various AK Interactive products.

Nice kit, had a few issues I disliked but it went together well and I'm happy with how it turned out.

This is prob the most heavily weathered model I've built and is my first real use of the AK weathering products.

As usual I'd love to hear everyone honest opinion on the build. thank you. and now for the photos

Thanks for looking. All comments are welcome as I'm always trying to improve myself.

Nice work, Delbert. A decent-looking model with nothing to criticize, really. Nice splattering on the rear. The paint scheme is really sharp, too.

If you want some suggestions for improving, I would suggest giving parts like the edges of the turret and hull a light drybrushing in metallic gray It will impart a nice, "heavy" appearance to the model Follow up with some very light highlights in silver---LESS IS MORE, but it will impart the look of a metal beast. You should try to do that to the tracks' guide horns too--they get rubbed down to the bare metal in real life.

I would have given the model an overall drtbrushing of light tan to simulate a pleasing dustiness and bring out highlights.

You could add some fuel stains around the filler caps. Some pin washes would help define your seams and creases.

For more of an advanced technique, I would recommend highlighting the base coat by spraying a lighter shade in the interior of the panels--"post shading" In reverse, basically.

Hope this gives you ideas for the next one!

Thanks for posting.  Just a few build tweaks for you: the spare track blocks on the nose have some sink marks that probably should have been filled with some putty.  Also your front roadwheels are riding up a little.  Can you glue them down?  Finally, the upper right tail light lens shouldn't be red but black.  Hope these help.

That is one nifty camo scheme.  I need to check this kit out.  Wicked cool!  You did it justice.

Other than what the guys already pointed out she looks great to me, I love the mud spatters.

I've build the AFV Club M10 kit but not the Achilles version- I thought it went together quite well though like many of their kits it does have a bunch of 'fiddly bits.'

Nice and clean build there Dilbert.

Interesting camo - would that be applicable to any other vehicles from this era?

Thank you for sharing your build :)

Very Best Regards

The wood grain on the tools is excellent! I like the dirt collected around some of the recessed areas

Great build!  I just received the AFV M-10 for Christmas and this just adds to the desire to build it.
