Finished Dragon Wagon pics
Posted by lizardqing on Tuesday, February 24, 2004 10:49 PM
Well here it is. After 3 long weeks of work on it the big beast is finally done Big Smile [:D]. This is one kit that is definatly a must get Approve [^]. The whole thing just goes right together like a dream. Only thing that gave any problem was the exhaust cover. It is definatly an eye catcher sitting next to the other stuff on the shelf. It is OOB with the exception of adding tie downs on the roof, and oil tubes for the chains on the rear drive. Still a few little things to do to it but other things are crying for some glue. Now on to the pics. Big Smile [:D]

So much detail in the kit it needed a few more pics than normal. Now on to smaller things that should feel easier to build after this one.

Thanks for the compliments guys.

Micheal- I don't think I havethe room for a 1/16. Anyone even know how big that would be for one of these? I'm thinking along the lines of a small Ford!

Excellent job Lizard. Love the mud! The whole thing looks very real. Well Done.

The only thing I would have liked to see would have been something in the photo to show it's size. It sure looks a monster!

Chris,
great work!
i like the detail w/ the cut and flat tire hanging in the spare spot after the change.

my only critiques are from the pic of the front end.
there is a discolored spot under the left headlight (the right side as it faces me in the pic)
that looks like it might be cement.
if it is, just a bit more mud around there will hide it nicely.
(believe me, the mud on my Panther and T-34 serves a purpose much like this!)
in the same picture, the I - beam looking pieces between the headlights
look a bit shiny. but that may be the wear you modeled into the edges & the lighting.
i have been fiddling constantly w/ my camera set up, lights, etc
because it was making my Panther look like it was washed in Future! Evil [}:)]

that's all the nits i have to pick.
a terrific job on a very big project! Thumbs Up [tup]
3 weeks !?!?! you did this since you finished the Panther?
or did you sneak a few more in there? Big Smile [:D]

Excellent Chris! The mud looks great (but the Captain says that driver better clean his vehicle or else!)... The photo with the Stuart is very cool indeed! Keep up the nice clean builds and muddy weathering!

Wow, really nice job. The finished products looks absolutely stunning.
How did you create the mud effects? They're especially wicked in the front pic

Thanks again everyone for the compliments.

Micheal- Yea I know the Stuart ain't the biggest tamk, but it's the only one I had handy and I'm not quite good enough on the crutches to try and carry a modela t the same time as walking to get another.Black Eye [B)]Big Smile [:D]

Ed- I noticed that glue stain too, of coarse it was after I looked at the pic myself. It's now on the list of other things to fix now. The mud on this one is already covering up stuff as well. Such as ejector marks on the window panels.
I think the shiney part is the lights. I just got some new brighter lights that I'm getting to learn, but they do make the pics better all around.
I did build this since I finished the Panther. Actually I bought the kit Jan 31 when I went to the show and had to put it down for about a week while I looked for the instructions that seemed to dissapear. I would say all in all it took about 2 weeks to build. But I do get to cheat some since I have nothing better to do all day but build since I can't work right now.Big Smile [:D]

zokissima- The mud was made by mixing Tamiya Earth acrylic and Testors contour putty with some paint brush bristles thrown in for the grass look. Then just dabbed and painted it on.

Thanks again everyone.

Chris, great job on the Dragon. The mud's impressive, as is the blown tire. Better find some private to square that vehicle away before inspection! What's next on the building agenda?

Well that would be hopefully finishing my Marder III. Then I have a half-track with the quad 50's and a tracked motorcycle. After that, well the shelf would be empty except for a wingy thingy and a Star Treck something another. Getting about time for a sale at Hobby Lobby again ain't it?
