There is a set of 3 books by George Nafziger that gives the complete OOB of all German divisions. But the formation of the 12th SS followed the same standard as most other Pz Div of the time. In ragrads to tank, there was 1 Regiment with Battalions each with 4 Companies. The 1st Battalion was equipped with Panther, the 2nd with Pz IV.
German tank numbering followed a pretty simply pattern. 3 number, the 1st was the company within the regiment, 2nd was Platoon within the company and 3rd was tank within the Platoon.
So 324 would be 4th vehicle, 2nd Platoon 3rd Company, and this would be a Panther.
But the colours of turret numbers often varied, it really helps if you can get a pic of any particular vehicle your doing.
I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so
