looks like it could. there are braces in the bed where the splayed trails anchor. really wasn't designed for that like the M3 GMC but more for better mobility. i do not think it would be a pleasant experience for all concerned, including the truck.

thanks for the additional comments. i cleaned up a couple of spots on the base i didn't like. i may add a few discarded bits of equipment as i suspect the base will be too "intense" for the new IPMS bases in armor categories criteria so might as well make it a vignette. maybe add a DAK soldier or 2. i really do want to build a larger wadi base. i can see it in my mind and have enough material and rocks.

Just curious,could the gun be fired while on the truck?

Excellent build and weathering Wayne.  Do you mean Italeri, not Airfix for the truck ?  I didnt think Airfix did stuff in 1/35 ?

thanks to all for the compliments.. just cut the wood for a brand new base for it.  wadi wall on one side with some riverlets channels for flash floods. think of  the flash flood that almost washed away the german defenses at halfaya pass. my weathering magazine has a detailed base build i will use as a guide. have to do some more terrain research but it's fermenting in my mind like your nuke.

Killer job, Wayne! I built one of these 20 some years ago, and I remember what a project it was with all those weird angles and parts!

GREAT save on the base, too. I"m glad you decided that you couldn't just let it be--I woulda done the same thing!  Looks 100% better!

hey DM thank you. i REALLY like the way the\truck and gun turned out.

going to do a detailed new base build for it based on experiences with this base. spent friday molding hydrocal rocks; big ones, little ones, scree. lent my molds to a friend to make resin rocks. this could turn into a diorama.

Wayne what a beautiful job on that Bedford. The details really jump out at you like the seats, the chains the right amount of weathering and the fantastic job on those wheels, just everything.  Every vehicle you build starts with a great frame and just continues upward, and adding the Howitzer and one of your bases sets it off. Your another one who must be running out of room..Nice build Wayne

thanks guys.

finally decided to go with it off loading as i have a long base for that. having made that decision i spent the morning making the tires look more sunken.NOTE TO SELF. plaster of paris is not fun to adjust. took a chisel to the ruts and filled them in with model clay and then sand. also did another coat of sand to add texture. NEXT TIME i will use modeling clay in the "mounting" areas and try spraying the sand area first with a texture paint, than airbrushing the sand color over the texture. may add a couple of DAK figures overrunning the vehicle.

Heck of a way to haul around a howitzer. You did a great job!
