New to Scale Modeling

This is my first build, the paint is based off the USMC pattern and is all free hand.  No texturing is done yet since I'm nervous about doing it.

Any honest critiques or hints would be very beneficial.

Thank you and keep rolling!

Really nice from what we can see. Some more, better pics would be appreciated and would help to generate more replies from forum members!

Couple things I see from the photo, the interior of the TC hatch should be green, looks like you painted it white. You used a "USMC pattern" but the grenade launchers are US Army type and the absence of the missile countermeasures device (standard on USMC tanks) isn't presence.

The last two items could be explained by the Marines borrowing Army tanks for Desert Storm; however, those tanks were sand, not green.

Welcome to the hobby! You'll find a lot of good info in these forums, i.e.: Rob and the rest. I agree with the doog, more pictures please. The forums will probably help with photography skills also. Bob

Thanks for the insights and the warm welcome I'll try to get a few more pics up soon.  As far as the USMC pattern this paint job was done after my tank in the early 90's (I was on a tank crew) the internal was white the launchers were common on those models and there were no missile counter measures on the tanks state side and they were not borrowed from the Army

It looks like you did a pretty nice job on it.  The camo looks good, especially for your first free-hand camo.  There are a few things still at issue with your model though

First, the camo is not USMC pattern, but the standard 3-tone NATO camo pattern used on just about all US vehicles since the mid-'80s.

Secondly, your tank has Army six-shot smoke launchers  USMC tanks have  8-shot smoke launchers specific to USMC Abrams.

The internal surface of the hatches should still be green, they have not been white on US tanks since before WWII.  The interior of the tank is a semi-gloss white, but not the insides of the hatches.  It also looks like you still need to paint the periscopes on the CWS.

Lastly, this statement isn't accurate...

"absence of the missile countermeasures device (standard on USMC tanks) isn't presence."

The MCD was only used on USMC tanks in the initial invasion of Iraq in '03.   They are not standard on USMC Abrams and only used when there is a threat from optically-guided anti-tank missiles.  So no worries there.

As your tank is now, it is an early '90s US Army M1A1 Abrams due to the smoke grenade launchers.

Here is a similar time period USMC M1A1 Abrams.
