Oh yeah. I use the hek out of PE............................on my aircraft builds. Hell half of the build is usually PE and resin!! lol

Tell me about it... Wait untill you see what i did to that poor Eduard 190 on my bench...

Thanks waikong! I'm actually between aircraft builds right now but when I get another break I have an AFV 1/48 251 Halftrack I'd like to give a whirl..............right in there with that Tamiya BMW R75.

I like!  Always nice to see 1/48 non-aircraft. I just got the Tamiya kit myself and have built the Bandai schwimwagen.

Glad you mentioned that. I have a Tamiya BMW R75 that I'm going to build and there's no need for PE spokes on that one. I do have an SOK version of this bike with PE spokes but the tires are resin and WAY too flimsy. Will be building the Tamiya version within the year..........................after a 109 build.

I read that somewhere I think in the reference book that I have. That's insane!!!

by the way,  the factory price of one r-75 was equal of prices of 4 kubelwagens

Holy Cow Joe, You flat tore it up on your work om the bike. Very well done. You did a sweet job on painting the accessories, i.e. saddle bags, MG's, sleeping bag, etc.. Thanks for sharing your WIP with us as it was fascinating and educational.

Well I've finished up the motorcycle to include the side car. For the most part this was an enjoyable kit with a few pitfalls along the way. I ended up replacing the Bandai machine gun with one from the Tamiya kit as the gun in the Bandai offering just plain out SUCKED.  I guess it "looked" like a gun. I also robbed the tent and sleeping bags from the Tamiya kit along with the MP40. The PE strap on the MP 40 and the machine gun ammo belt are from Hauler. I'm going to try my hand at figure painting here soon as an addition to this kit but feel that I still need some work to go on my wheeled vehicle building skills.

  Anyway here's the shots:

Well, its only been in the last few years I have had this place to call on for advice, before that, it was like stumbling around in the dark.

The call to use tan pastel to reflect some wear and use was spot on Joe. It looks really good. The sleeping bag was also some great foresight on your part. Serves it's purpose and really adds to the subject.

That's looking really good Joe and would be nice to see some figures. I am sure you will make a better job than I have, its taken me over 20 years to get figure si am really happy with.

I managed to get the side car on as well as some accessories to go with it. There was a NASTY seam down the centerline of the car on the INSIDE! I robbed a sleeping bag from the Tamiya kit that I have and painted/ weathered it up. After I installed the side car the model just didn't look the part of a used wartime field vehicle. It was then that I ground up some tan pastel and went to work with a dirt film over the bike. So far I'm not disappointed.

I still have a few more things to add to the side car in the form of items in the floor and the gun but it's almost there. I have a helmet, an MP40 and rifle as well as a tent and shovel from the Tamiya BMW R75 kit to add. I also have an ammo belt for the machine gun and MP40  PE shoulder strap and folding stock from Hauler to add.

Well it's finally update time. I've been working on the sidecar assy and now have the frame installed. I have the car itself mostly built but need to add weathering and detail to it.  The gun and some of the other details just flat out suck with this kit so I've robbed alot of the details from my Tamiya kit (I already have another Tamiya kit on the way) . I got that nasty seam line on the fender but that red light on the fender will get some down-toning soon.  Cameras are not biased are they!!

One thing I am learning quickly about wheeled vehicles that I need to work on is my seam removal. It's come to me as second nature with aircraft but these wheeled fellas have ALL KINDS of surfaces and the "boo boos" really show up especially with a quality camera (which is exactly why I'm going to build another one of these......Tamiya style) . It may be in retrospect but I am learning!

Thanks alot guys! I've got a ways to go with weathering but I'm tryin. Another shot from the L/H front. I already see a boo boo I need to correct on the L/H side of the frame up front. Will handle it and move on.....

Great work, mate! The engine wiring helps to add that extra bit of interet and make the model pop!
