Toning down a Panzer Grey / Rotbraun / olivegrun camo scheme
Posted by RickB464 on Sunday, August 31, 2014 12:07 PM

Hi Guys,

I'm finishing up on Trumpeter's Neubaufahrzeug (rheinmetall). Nice kit, went together easily sans those workable tracks. I have a paint question. It has an early war 3 color paint scheme of panzer gray/rotbraun/olive grun. When I use a dunkel gelb/ brown / green scheme I usually mist on a coat of dunkelgelb to tone down the contrast and homogenize the finish. This tank was a prototype and as such was lightly weathered. Any suggestions on what color to use to tone this down without beating it up too much?

TIA

Rick

You could try applying a gray filter. That should fade the brown an green slightly.

I would just dust on some light pigments in a light gray or tan-mud color, then dust most of it off. Should do the trick
