1/72 Dragon Armor T-34/76
Posted by RX7850 on Monday, November 24, 2014 7:48 PM

I'm starting on Dragon's 1/72 kit of the T34/76 kit # 7262.  Does anyone know where I could find good online reference pics. specific to a  41 cast turret  produce at factory 183 in Nizhniy Tagil. At the moment I need accurate pics of all the weld seams especially of the turret roof .

Thanks

Have you tried Prime Portal and Toadman's Tank Pictures?

You know, you really don't see these Dragon 1/72 kits around much any more. I wonder what happened to the line?

I have looked into those sites . Toadman's shows a 41 with welded turret  so that's a no go . I had luck with Prime Portal , it shows a  1942 cast turret T-34  that comes closest to the one I am building. It's hull and turret detail appear similar so I have been  using  it for a  reference. My dilemma  has to do with the  turret roof welds. In some pics.  they appear concave and or  convex.

Thanks for the reply

Hey Doog,

I did notice that Dragon USA doesn't carry the whole line,  at least for a while now.

hello RX7850

try to see this one tank-t-34.blogspot.de/.../34.html

as i understand   you need the picture #4  in this link.  There is much info about turrets. as i see on Dragon's pictures this is turret from Stalingrad factory and the same turret produced on factory 183 in july and august 41 in Charkowot but not in Nizhniy Tagil. But factory 183 moved in the end of 41 from Ukraine to Nizhniy Tagil. May be some of this turret was made in Tagil, i don't know what Dragon write about it in their info.

They ran a bunch of variants using their mix and match sprue technique back in the early 2000s, then they went of of production. This is one of the lines (T-34) that Dragon actually went back and retooled because of early complaints. The original black vinyl tracks were prone to being misshapen and too short and were very taut when installed.

Dragon fixed a few issues and then switched to DS tracks that were lengthened to allow the characteristic slack the T-34s had. Later versions were superior to earlier releases.
