Looking forward to seeing how the Jagdtiger comes out.
thanks rx, terry
i have a TRUMPETER LAV primed and a DRAGON POESCHE JAGDTIGER basecoated in the paint queue.
hey terry it's going to take a but longer than 2 days to get to 80% in our RR GB builds, eh.

Nice to see someone enjoying braille scale as much as I do. With so much variety, potential for detail and most important, bang for the buck. It's hard not to get the bug for these pint size renditions. Keep up the nice work Waynec.
I thank your 80% is very true, anyway nice job there. I like the newer Dragon series of 1/72, they are well engineered and highly detailed. And pretty cheap too.
jibber Wayne these small guys are a lot of fun and that 55 looks very cool and the base as plain as it is really works. Those tracks really looked finicky but you were able to get some sag with em, nice job. How were the Tamiya powders to work with?

CLIFF, KARL, TERRY thanks for looking.
been dealing with an overload of pe on my BM-21 so this was a nice change of pace plus a bunch of shelf queens. and i seem to be getting pretty good at arab and hebrew freehand letters/numbers.
as for the tamiya powders i like them. like everything else there are some tricks, i have the 4 gray set and the 4 rust set from years ago. some of them adhere better than others. the tick is build up. they stain quickly and, unlike pastels or oils, don't "wash off" easily if at all. so slow build up, especially with rust. another time i probably would have made my own powders with pastels but was under a time crunch on this one. YET ANOTHER REMINDER TO ME that the 80% looks like crap turns out pretty good when done.
That's really nice looking, Wayne.
Hey nice work there Wayne, little small for me but she looks good!

this is the TRUMPETER kit i pulled out of the sale bin at the LHS. i got into 1/72 this year and this is my 4th build. This was fun, one of those that looks bad until the end. the only annoying part of the build was the seam on the halves of the rear external fuel tanks, even a problem in 1/35. the hand rails are a tad thick but, as this was a 48 hour build , i left them. i glued the track together and let them sit overnight. after putting them on i spread cya over the middle road wheels and wedged soft ear plugs under the fender until they dried. putting it together i noticed places i missed with the painting.
i primed it with ACE HARDWARE gray, my usual primer. i wanted to try VALLEJO AIR again but had a lot of trouble with coverage and airbrush UNTIL I LOOKED AT THE BOTTLE and saw i was using desert sand primer not paint. i did learn multiple mist coats and saw how preshading work. with no clear coat barrier i washed the rod wheels with burnt umber oils. the upper hull and turret got a yellow ochre wash followed by a burnt umber wash. that was followed by some TAMIYA weathering powder. i hand painted arab numbers on the turret with dirty white.
given all the mistakes it turned out nicely. i think i will make a small golan heights base for it, this one is just generic.
