Paint them tan, wash with burnt sienna or raw umber oil, and dust with gray or black pigments.

You can even paint in wood grain on them with a fine brush before the washes.

copic alcohol pens over a primed surface and toned down with a q-tip and some alcohol. may need a dash of flat when it dries completely.

Does anybody have any good techniques for painting the wooden handles on pioneer tools to make them look aged and worn?

Thanks in advance!
