As a former M1A1 crewman I must say that for a Snapkit you have done more justice to my old ride then the manufacture themself did. Looks very good.

Aside from the technical errors from the manufacturer themselves, you did a phenomenal job of this. I've seen this kit in stores and though of it as a crappy toy rather than an actual model kit, but I may have another look at it now. It may be an interesting thing to build with my son.

Thank you for posting this.  :)

@Dstaks, It looks really good for being a snap tite kit! Great job!

@Rob, get the revel kit for your son, I bought one for my 9 yo son and my 6 yo daughter. They both enjoyed the build, and gained a lot of confidence from the build. Granted they did not turn out as well as Dstaks!

Rob, I was going to get the academy tank at hobby lobby (Iraqi war version) . But it seemed to time consuming for me at this time . Idk if that is the one you are talking about for your son though.

It looks good and for a casual snap kit, not bad. I noticed that Revell used the M1A2's ICWS (cupola) but the tank is an M1A1. I've been tempted to buy it for my 10 year old. We started an Academy M1A1 but he ran out of steam long ago.

Fixed :) I didn't use the tracks supplied, instead I used Tamiya's M1A2 tracks. I added a dragon tow bar and spare track, along with a spare sprocket. Used clear styrene for windows on the hatches and sights.

Methinks your pics are too small to realy see much. Can you get better pics?

It's a snap alright. Heavy art, I know there is not as much detail but the top side of the hulls were similar to the dragon. I guess that is what I meant. I pretty much finished it up, what do you think? My only gripe is one of the side armor panels has to much streaking going on, and the cable on the rear looks out of place. Also I lost some of my weathering with the dull coat. Feedback welcome . Thanks !

It looks OK for a beginner-level snap-tite.  From what I see though, it has nowhere near the level of details of the Dragon kit.

Revell M1A1 1/35
Posted by Dstaks on Friday, January 2, 2015 10:02 PM

This is my second build since modeling and post on the forum. Still new and learning and this will be my last build for awhile. My wife picked me up Revell's Snap tite M1A1 and I thought I would jazz it up as I go along. For what it is, the hull has similar detail as I compared it to a dragon. The turret is sparse on features so far, therefore I added a wind sensor and smoke launchers. I also puttied all the openings on the turrets and opened the tow hooks on the rear.  Here is my progress so far.
