That's so far beyond my ability  Bow Down

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Remarkable work. 3D printing will change many things, and I believe scale modeling will be one of them. Soon, the cost of modeling will be in the purchase of a 3D printer, which will get cheaper every year. After that, you'll be able to purchase digital files for a fraction of the cost of a kit and make your own parts. Imagine, never having to fret over losing a little piece in the carpet or breaking a piece and trying to replicate it. I can see the next wave of competition breaking in on the traditional kit makers. Either Tamiya and others will need to head them off by introducing digital kits themselves or a whole new group of techies will fill the space. We're not there yet. Plastic quality and precision shaping isn't refined enough yet, but it will be.

Once I mentioned that sooner than later people will start fabricating their kits at home, so companies like Dragon, Tamiya need to start thinking on selling "digital" kits. Files you will download all the parts, decals of your choice, etc and just print them. This will allow you to print only the parts you will really use.

I basically got judged and sentenced that it would never happen, wait until 3D printers are a commong thing.

Not today but in the future there may be "piracy" of those files and will start to ruin companies like this, they need to star thinking in digital world. Yeah, it may no happen this year or next year, but these are the same deaf ears records companies had for years.

Now this is dedication!

Would be an "interesting" way to make kits of things that don't currently have any kits available.

Let's rattle the cage, crack the machine. Let 'em know who you are, shine to be seen.
