Stik, I think you might be confusing the max with the Sturer Emil. The two always get me confused. The Max was indeed based on a Pz IV hull while the Emil was based on Henschel's VK 3001(H).

The Dicker Max was built on a Henschel chassis that was an early development for the Tiger program. It was superseded by the chassis selected for use on the actual Panzer VI/Tiger, so the surplus chassis were used for other purposes.

Not anything new or rare.  The Trumpeter and Dragon kits have been out for a few years now.  As the others have said, it was a Self-Propelled Gun, a 10.5 cm Howitzer mounted on a Panzer IV Ausf D chassis.

Yeah, seems the Germans only built two of them.

Love to see some photos Tankerbuilder.

Looks kinda like a Hummel.

Steve

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Looks like the PzKpfw IV chassis and not the Tiger.

A little known German armor kit .

Hi :

Well , I don't feel so bad now . I found an Armor model extroardinaire that never heard of it either .I am referring to the " Dicker-Max " by Trumpeter . Now this is one curious kit . It's an open top Gun ( self propelled ) that seems to be on a later Tiger chassis .

Thing is , it was so unique , I even bought and installed " Fruilmodel " Tracks on it ! ( Remember now , I don't usually build armor anything ) This has pushed my categories into next year , Big Time . Yup , I am even doing dot filters on it and lots of mud as well !

Thing is , we have a nice new hobby shop in San Marcos Texas . It is called Artistic Hobbies and the owner is a big fan of R.C. armor . he specializes in it . Even Gene hadn't heard of the " Dicker-Max ".

That said I had to look for at least four months , till my go to shop here in the S.A area even found me bullets to fit the racks inside . They're105s . I wonder what this thing is going to look like when it's done .

I take it out and build a little . See what I can improve from the kit , including the P.E and then put it away again .Hey ! I realized I've had this thing for three years now and am still working on it .That's a long build for me ! It was a door - prize at an I.P.M.S. show here in San Antonio .

I had forgotten how much fun armor can be . As I've said in other posts , I don't do much because Bandai stopped making those awesome 1/48 jewels years ago . I just found the remaining two in the stash . Both of these are King Tigers , one with a Henschel turret and the other with the Porsche turret . Ah yes ! full interiors too .

     Hmm , I think I accidentally got back into armor ! Darned Dicker-Max ! LOL. LOL   Tanker-Builder.
