.The other type you soften with a flame and press hard . It'll work .

i've found for car tires, the solid ones squish too much volume, so you need to cut a piece off the bottom so when it's hot-squished, it doesn't balloon as much.

And then make your own 3/4" link chain with .022 links (about 46 links per inch) from copper wire while laughing all the way to the bank......

Below is one of the tiny chains I made from very fine copper wire. It's the larger one of the two.

So nice to see a truck with a few miles on it.

Great job.

Now you can pound out the dents, putty up the wrinkles ,smooth the panels, install new glass  and she'll be as good as new

Gentlemen, thank you kindly for your input.

Ygmodeler, that is a good suggestion re. the truck's bed. I will add some more dirt and wear, depending how brave I feel Smile

Golhammer, that is a good suggestions. I was actually wandering if there is anything else that would hold the tailgate up. I was thinking to break one hinge off and make the gate hang down to the ground on one side. The chain would have to be quite thin, I only have some that goes on tanks.

M.Brindos and Bish, thanks for the comment re. glass. I was hoping to achieve somet good effect with it.

Tankerbuilder, the tires are solid, the entire wheel came as one piece. I'll try to experiment with your suggestion with flame as I have some spare parts.

Doog, thanks for your comment, glad you like it. Much appreciated and motivating.

Cheers...Smile

I think it looks pretty cool; glad you warned about the "pinkish" hue of the rust'; it definitely has that in the photos.

Hello !

Are the tires solid or hollow styrene ? I ask this because I found you can flatten the rubbery ones by boiling them and quickly pressing them on a cold surface .The other type you soften with a flame and press hard . It'll work . Don't forget , make that Rusty chain on that tailgate !

That looks really good for your first attempt. I think the other guys have pretty much covered it. I do like the glass.

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Looks pretty good to me! They guys have some points there, I didn't even really think about the bed or tailgate until it was pointed out.

Looks good, just one nit pick....if you can, put a chain on one side of the tailgate.  Looks odd just hanging against gravity in mid air.  Beautiful work on the fenders and glass.

Only major thing that detracts from it are the tires IMO but like you said, you can fix that with a base.

Other than that (and now its just nitpicking) I think the truck bed could be dented more. With the wear and tear on that fender the trucks been used and I think the truck bed should show more of it....BUT that's just my opinion, and I realize its very easy to overdo.

It's far better than what I would be able to do, and I am not trying to say it doesn't look good...cuz it does! YesYes

Somebody on this forum had said that the wrecks are the holly grail of modeling. Well, there is nothing holly or graily about this one, but it is my first attempt.

The rust appears a bit pinkish in some pix, it is much darker. And the tires should be flat, if I find some kind of base I'll make some sort of a ditch or something and sink it in.
