Got ya.  No, it was just an interesting vehicle he saw.  He collects lesser known armor (between the World Wars and Cold War Era).

Well I know squat about American army and must admit I had never heard of the m103, but that looks a pretty nice build to me.

Does your customer have any links to that tank.

Thanks Gino, I figured cutting the deflector down a little would probably be the simplest solution but wasn't sure it was the right one.

Doog, if you Google images of the M48s at Checkpoint Charlie, you'll see Cold War photos with the dual stars on rear fenders.

Actually, it was not a field mod, but how the tank was designed.  The issue is that Dragon made the exhaust cover too tall and the angle of the turret rear is too shallow, resulting in the turret hitting the exhaust cover.  I cut about 1/8 of an inch off the bottom of the cover and the exhaust pipes to lower it and make it fit so the turret turns freely.

My kit is about 95% done before I ended up getting distracted by other stuff, the only issue I had with the kit was the engine deck thermal deflector interferes with the rotation of the turret. From what I've seen on the internet it's a field modification (I think?) to keep the heat from the engine from cooking the commander in the overhanging turret so I guess you could modify the piece so it fits better?

Thanks Rob.  Despite what others have said about the dimensions of the kit being all hosed up, it still builds up nicely.

Thanks Sprue and Doog.  It was a relatively easy build.  The barrel is one-piece and straight as an arrow with only a very fine mold line to sand off.  Yeah, the color is off a bit.  I need  to work on that.

Yup, a pretty cool build. You might wanna check your White Balance on your camera to get rid of that yellowish overcast in the photos.

Pretty odd to see two stars on the rear fenders as markings like that. That's a neat little detail that sets it apart.

Nice. I like when OOB builds offer very little resistance. Is the main gun tube a one piece type on the sprue? 

Hi Mike.  It was a fun build.  Luckily, no, the gin barrel was straight as an arrow.  The markings were put together from spares and other sheets.

Very, very nice! I can see the differences between the A1 and A2. You've got a very clean tank there lol.

Did you have any problem with the gun tube being warped? Mine is warped a little. Did those markings come with the kit?
