Here's something I have never seen before.

Can you identify, and purpose?

Looks like a bridge layer of some type.  The IDF definitely has some interesting variants of armored vehicles.

The Israelis call it an Eyal (hoping you have a translation on that!). Used as an armored, mobile observation post.

Personally, I have no business being up a narrow tube almost 90 feet off the ground, so my hat is off to anyone motivated enough to be up in that perch under fire. "Eyal" would most likely be the sound I would make after I checked my shorts the first time some sniper decides it would be funny to bounce a round off that tube to see how fast I can get down the ladder...

I'll pass on that job thanks. Got to hand it to the Israeli's, they certainly know how to get the most out of a Sherman.

Wring it out till it's good and dry.......

The "Eye-full" was used to observe Egyptian positions across the Suez Canal from behind the "safety" of the sand berms put in place on the Israeli side before the Yom Kippur War. It kind of makes me think of WW1-vintage or even American Civil War observation balloons. Sounds like a lovely job to have.
