Armor in my neighborhood
Posted by GMorrison on Tuesday, May 12, 2015 5:01 PM

So Jacques Littlefield lived right up the road from me. In addition to being a client of mine, he was generous to open his compound to interested visitors over the years before his untimely death.

Today I was driving home, a fairly winding road. A truck with a "WIDE LOAD" sign came around the corner ahead, followed immediately by a lowboy with an M-60 on it. I had no time to get a picture, hopefully it'll be on the news tonight.

Wow, I'd be so busy rubber-necking I'd probably have gotten into another accident though.

Well I don't know. I was going 40 mph in one direction, it was going 20 in the other.

Jacques has, I see from the auction catalog; a M 60, a M60 A1 and a M 60 A2. The A2 is camo, this mother was really big and really green so it was the A1.

If you go on Google Satellite and enter 495 Old Spanish Trail, Portola Valley CA you will see his layout.

It's ironic- I've spent mega hours online looking at walkarounds of the AMX 13, and there's one within 5 miles of my house that I can no longer go see.

Wow.....   I might have turned around and followed. I once made a nuisance of myself on a bus in Israel because of a Magach on a trailer, going the other way.

Now I wish I had!

I did the same in a taxi in Jordan, passing an F-104 Gate Guardian on a pole. Made him go back to get some snaps.

Wow, I never knew about Jacques, wish I had of, I would have gone over to his compound! I live about 45 minutes away in Dublin! Too dang late now. Looking at Google satellite, he had Tons of armor (literally and figuratively speaking.)

Nice! I have a friend who lives there too. It's nice when he gets us out onto the course.

It turns out that the Collings Foundation is at Moffet Field this week. How do I know? Saw a B-17 fly overhead yesterday on that same stretch of road!

So I am wondering if they took the M-60 down there for the week, in which case it may come back up my way next week.

Hmmm...
