My beginnings as a figure painter began with the gaming miniatures as well. Yes, I understand where you are coming from. I'm following the same path.  :)

OK, so my 1/35 figure look as they were 100mts staring at an H bomb.

Flat faces, no color modulation....and you come with this....

Im too far from doing something like this.

Congrats!

Well, I think my tank crew figures look ok for what they are, though I think they could fit in with Oddball and company without problems!

What you've got here is ART VS, I need a lot more practice to get anywhere near your level.

Well I think I can. Especially the thin and slow part. Good tips!

Thank you gents for the kind words,

Dear M. Brindo,

I started out as armor and sci -fi modeler.  As the year and experience progressed ,  I start setting goals for myself as I want to be not the best, but a well rounded modeler.   therefore for the past few years I began to study applying super gloss coat, weathering, scratch-building, sculpting, and of course, figure painting.

IMHO miniature figure painting take a lot of patience.  I never succeed in one try.  I take WIP photos and correct myself often.  I paint very slow and I use acrylics and blending method, that means very thin layers until color gives a smooth color transition.  I learned many skillful tips from the gaming/miniature painters.

I paint for camera, so therefore the figures in person is not always having the dramatic highlight and shadow or can be seen with "pop out" details.  However, the figure you see person present a orderly and clean style.

I hope sharing this message you can understand my train of thoughts,

VS

Really I meant the tanks, not the crews.

'Cause they're supposed to be ugly. At least that's what I tell myself...

You guys are far too hard on yourselves. Your figures, from what I've seen, are much better than you guys are giving yourselves credit for.

VS - That figure is primo! You've got a ton of talent for figures. Would you share your thoughts on how you perceive painting figures with us? I'd like to see them the way you do. If that makes any sense to you.

That is truly beautiful work! You perfectly captured the poster.

GM is right, most of our tank crew figures tend toward the fugly...
