Wayne your at the top of the list for War Wheels, I'm sure you'll get that guy reading for the judging, good luck. Putting clay in the wheels is cool, never would have thought. Looks great.

STEP AWAY FROM THE WASHES!!! did some washes and some filtering with yellow on the tank and payne gray on the cab.

and then i knocked it off the table. the mirrors stayed on surprisingly but the already broken front differential popped off again. sitting now with CYA and, if that doesn't hold will mix up a little epoxy. i do enough stupid stuff building anyway without going out of my way to do even more. this will be on a base so no one will be picking it up.

finished a novel about a female CH-46 pilot and some spec ops stuff written by a female 46 driver so decided a JGSDF fuel truck next to a 46 would work. dirt field so plenty of dust . may also get a spec ops CH-47, have a BLACKHAWK

 i have a pair of 1/35 BLACKHAWKS so  the 1/35 CHINOOK must be huge. i may have to start dumping  all my winged thingies.

one thing i will do in the future is paint the edge of the windows black so the thickness is hidden a bit.

decals were amusing maybe because i don't like doing them and get impatient. one slipped on me and i damaged it moving it back. not too badly as it's a Japanese character at 1/72 so there is more forgiveness with broken "text". also some silvering again my fault. first time i airbrushed a flat coat and, like Vallejo paint, it looks much better after it dries. now for the fun part, washes and weathering. i  think one front tire sits .5mm off the ground after fixing the differential i broke so a base is due. if i can find one of the JASDF or JGSDF CH-47s i will use that and dust up the truck from rotor wash. 

Quite an obscure subject, Wayne, but it looks well-detailed and you look like you've got it well in hand!

painted. upper is Vallejo  olive gray which ls close to Tamiya JGSDF od. chassis is black. canvas top is a Vallejo german green which also looks close to Tamiya JGSDF green. mirrors wont be on until after decals and most of the weathering because i know i will knock them off. learned a lot for the next OTS builds

i got into OTS doing RR stuff and modern Bundeswehr trucks i couldn't find in 1/325. (note now i have them). have a friend in my club plus Duke Maddog  who only do OTS. didn't hurt i took a first in 1/72 at local contest last November and 2 firsts in 1/723 at regionals here last month.

i have seen a T-33, F-104, and the F-4. may do an Osprey. WTH go big or go home (guess that means i need to get back to 1/35 K-5 RR gun build).

But...I've built a couple of AFVs at that scale and it's a challenge because the level of detail is different than for a plane where you can basically fudge the cockpit on a B-17, etc.

thanks to all for the nice comments. i went to airbrush it on Tuesday and everything went to crab; Vallejo Air wasn't working in airbrush, clogging, spitting. so i decided to brush paint it. why not, little model. that turned out like crap too though a coupe more coats would have covered up the brush marks. Tonight i go to the bunker to turn the lights out, figure WTH lets try this again and everything was fine. had the paint a tad thin but all the green is painted. probably hand paint the black chassis with MMA  easier than doing all the masking.

Wayne, just think of a plane as if it was a vehicle - it has wheels, tires, crew cab, engine, fan blade(s), long side curb feelers and a rear spoiler-- see? simples

Very nice work on the fuel truck  also 

I'll take that bait! lol of course you should! Just treat it like you would one of your rail cars. It will be phenomenal.

thanks Mike. this is a nice build. looking forward to some other ones. the instructions have a couple of burps but common sense overcomes them. i may have to do an, dare i say it,  airplane to pair with it

pics don't show it but everything is now primed and ready to paint. chassis is black, exhaust is metallic gray or aluminum, upper body is JGSDF OD at least the Vallejo AV equivalent, and cab top is canvas so a slightly lighter OD for contrast. wheel hubs should be black but will be OD for wash effects. this won't be dirtied up much.

not a lot. i have to be careful of parts flying with tweezers. trying using more blue tack material to hold parts.even got the spout on the fuel tank on without tweezers which is surprising given my fat fingers.

getting more done on truck. next time i will leave the drive shafts off until i'm ready to prime. they are delicate, i broke one cutting it off the sprue and cleaning it up.the reason to leave them off is, as small as this is, there isn't a lot of room for fat fingers to hold the chassis and there is the possibility of a thumb pressing into the shaft and breaking it. also in instruction #6 they show the front arrow for the K-2 mount forward of the horizontal brace and it should show it behind. it is obvious when looking at the part.

chassis work. the tires and some parts are hollow which probably wouldn't be seen except by a judge picking it up. red is body putty, tires are filled with modeling clay which i will coat with cya and paint. since this will probably be a diorama with a target, aka aeroplane, this will only be picked up once, at least by that judge.

interesting compared to 1/35 and 1/25 trucks.
