M. Brindos

I'm only dissapointed that you finished it so quickly. lol

I wonder what that TC is supposed to be doing? lol What's with that pose?!

He's telling the guy that jackrabbitted his parking space that when he comes back to his car it's going to look a little different. He's a real loser. I just got a couple of better ones.

Thanks, Baron.

There's no shame in speaking to the truth. I recently bought a couple of Tamiya Walker Bulldogs for peanuts in order to get started on my M59-M84 projects.

Those are really old kits too. But boy, they are so much nicer. The Tank Commander figures are definitely keepers.

Nice build, GM!  And shame on everyone who pooh-pooh'ed your choice.  It's not a bad kit.

This was the first Monogram armor kit I ever built, back around 1973 or so.  And it was also my introduction to Shep Paine's "Tips on Building Dioramas".  "What's a stove bolt?" this 9-year-old kid asked himself.

Here is the finished product. It hit the point of diminishing returns, and it's time to move on.

I will be following this build as well.  I have one in my stash and will build it as the Israeli version.

After some thought; Bing.

Print star on the back of a white decal sheet and cut them out.

Your work's looking good, G.

Gino, point taken, but it can be fun, in a twisted sort of way......

Ready for OD. I gave myself two days to beat this thing into shape. It is a pretty decent kit, although it would take a lot more work to really make it good.

Agreed on all counts Gino. It's all Stik's fault- he's running a Monogram Mafia GB that tends to the moldy oldies. The barrel and muzzle break single part? Holy Moly. I am going to build it as-is with maybe a few minor tweaks like the grabs on the turret, and maybe better tracks.

I'm waiting for the Dragon A nothing/ A1 to come out.

The Revell A2 looks great.

That kit is close enough to good that with a little enhancement builds into a fine model.

That is an understatement.  It needs a lot more than a little enhancement to make an acceptable model out of it.  The basic hull and turret shapes are good, but the rest is horrible.  The tracks are detailless rubber bands, surface details are all super soft and molded on, the grab rails on the turret sides are molded on blobs, tools are more molded on blobs, etc., etc., etc...  If you just must build it, I would use detail items from the Tamiya M48A3 or some other M48 kit to dress it up...and lots of sheet and rod styrene.

Good luck with it.

If you want a very nice, up to date M48A2, get the new Revell kit.

Now there's a classic. That kit is close enough to good that with a little enhancement builds into a fine model. I would think seriously about maybe some AFV Club tracks, under $20 and very nice.

I'm building this for the Monogram Mafia II GB, but in line with how folks don't troll GB's much, I thought I'd post it here.

The classic kit, cast marks inside the hull read "Revell 1966" and "Made in China", obviously added to the molds at different times. I gather this one was boxed in 2010. It kind of has a white box "worn out", and I don't remember the UH-1s in the background before. That plus the six soldiers in the box with M1 carbines, BAR rifles, flame throwers and a Thompson gun make it a kind of "Twilight Zone " deal.

Here's the kit:
