Gamera

Thanks SP, guess I'm just used to thinking of the CO being in the turret.

He might be on the BMP-2. It has a two man turret, but also still retains the commanders station behind the driver... crazy Russkies...Confused

Yes, he is actually the vehicle commander. Hence the fancy NV sights and such. The BMP-1 had a single man turret, with a gunner who operated the main gun, co ax MG and Sagger missile. The 8 main infantry squad dismounts and the three man crew stays in the track for dismounted ops.

Hey SP, looks good and good to see you back to work on this.

Maybe a stupid question but the guy in the second seat, is that for the commander? Other than the sights there I don't see anything for him to man and if he's there as the assistant driver looks like to me if the driver gets shot he'd have to lift him and throw him out the hatch to get to the driving controls.

Good to see this one return to the top of the forum. Nice scratch building in there as well.

This is going to look so cool with paint on it!  :)

I took several photos of my work a couple weeks back, but since PB was down that day I could not get them uploaded. Life intervened in the mean time so here is the scratch work I did for the drivers compartment, as well as the jerry can racks for the rear hull fenders

racks

drivers compartment

roof interior

lower hull

TC hatch

and what you'll be able to see once it's closed up

Ill try to get it painted up and glued close in the next few days

Hola garzon. No diorama for this build. Although I would like to do a vignette base for it at some point.

Excellent work Stick.

G, I've been trying to get on P-bucket most of the day, no luck, and all the pics I've put up lately are showing up as "broken link" icons, must be P-bucket.

I'd totally forgotten about this. Cool to see you back underweigh.

BTW: Something seems to be going on with PhotoBucket here, I can't see the majority of your photos. Maybe it's just me?

Has it really been since August since I have done any work on this? Wow! Well, I have been working interior scratchwork in the drivers compartment today. Pictures coming tomorrow...

Just some minor progress today- I attached the water channeling louvres to the rear of the upper hull side skirts.

I go back to work tomorrow, so no progress photos likely until my next day off on Sunday...

Yesterday afternoon with better lighting I was able to get a photo of the sub assemblies that I could not get done so well in the previous evenings...

turret, TC cupola, Sagger missile and launch rail

and then yesterday afternoon I airbrushed on the first color for the exterior. Tamiya's new Tire Black on the road wheels and return rollers

next up is some green on the lower hull when I get the chance...

I think the whole forum should be happy to know that you're building HERE in the Armor section! We need these builds here!!  Stick out tongueYes

That's an oldie, isn't it? I haven't seen an AMT armor kit in decades!

Thanks, and yes we do need more builds in here...

Yeah, it is an oldie indeed. The basic molds are over 25 years old, and the AMT boxings have been OOP for probably 15 years or more I would estimate...

Well, I did not get as much done on this today as intended... my other project, the Klingon Cruiser took a lot more attention with its' decals and their lack of co operation... and then there was some family business to attend to... but I did get some more sub assembly work done... although most of the photos turned out terribly, so this is the presentable one...

and I remembered this resin figure in my stash that may work for a vignette scene...

I have some other Iraqi figures as well, so no decision here yet...

Very cool figure set there SP, so are you doing her pristine or 'brewed-up' like ElevenBravo's photo?

M. Brindos

This has your usual feel of awesomeness to it already.  ;)

... and now that damn bug has bitten me again... I swear there needs to be an immunization shot for this...

I really do NOT like open sponson bottoms. so I added some sheet styrene to fill the ones on this...

And then I added some front plates on the lower hull in front of the sprockets... but then if I am gonna display ths with a figure one day, it can't be buttoned up so I started adding some inner panel works...

and as you can see thru the open hatches

I'll add some more basic detailing in there like laterals, pedals, and seats... but not go overboard like on my B-26....

so this is how the sub assemblies together look now...

sorry for the crappy photos, but my camera and the garage work area are not good friends after dark....

And now back to our regular programming...

More progress today, but I am not quite following the instruction sheet order... nor showing these in the order that I did the work earlier today...

I did about 2/3 of the work on the turret...

some work on the upper hull, but I left off the small breakables until after I get it glued to the lower hull

small bits added to the front and rear of the lower hull

and the running gear added... I left the sprocket wheels loose until the tracks are added for fine tuning the position of those with the link & length tracks

some test fitting of all the major components

and a better look at the jerry can racks that I made up... I need to go back and modify them a bit as well as the cans...

More to see in the next day or so...
