Cat Daddy How hard is 1/72 on the eyes? I'm on the north side of 50 and I fear that all the fiddly bits on these tanks might make me blind.

i am 63 and started building 1/72 two years ago. i been wearing glasses since 4th grade. i now have bifocals as well but i have no problems. unlike Bish i don't use optivisors or any magnification. i do put safety glasses on when airbrushing and when working on anything 1/35 with iron antenna.

I put together a good number of 1/72 armor kits, more than I do 1/35 kits. Of course, most are of AmTracs but I throw in others to add flavor to the display shelves. The Dragon LVTs are good kits; the AAVs are decent but need PE to represent various topside details better. I have several Trumpeter kits, they have all been impressive concerning detail, and the new Revell kits are good as well. I have a Revell T-72, Trumpeter T-55 and an Esci M1 Abrams in the works – do not bother with Esci kits. Below are some of my 1/72 armor builds. No optivisor but I am sure it would help, especially with the PE on the AAVs.

On the bench: Airfix 1/72nd Harrier GR.3/Fujimi 1/72nd Ju 87D-3
we have a 1/72 Group Build on going (OTS = One True Scale)
i agree with Dragon for 1/72. i also like Revell but i don't like some of the length and link tracks in this scale. OTHO i do a lot of wheels. Trumpeter has some nice stuff too and Toxso is nice but new so very limited selection. i also like Aoshima but they do modern JGSDF stuff so probably not your thing.
note the Airfix Mk-I and the T-55 Mineroller took firsts at June region 10 regionals.
That does look very good, never would have guessed the scale.
I just completed the Revell 1/72 Sd Kfz 7/1. Amazing detail. I was blown away. I added the figure and tarps.

Building a kit from your stash is like cutting a head off a Hydra, two more take it's place.

Hello
New to the hobby and I'd like to give myself a go at 1/72 WW2 armor. Any recommendations to an online retailer and which kit's tend to have the better mold quality
Thanks
