Hey Constructor I'm guessing no one has answered your question because they don't own either kit. I'd figure they are different kits since I haven't heard anything about them sharing molds. I don't own either myself but I do own Meng's Tortoise and 'Toyoda' pick-up truck which I've halfway built both and they're excellent kits. Really good fit and detail, I don't know about the Takom one but I expect the Meng kit will build into a gem of a model.

Hi Gamera! Thank you for your reply. It just got me wondering because we have here in Manila Takom's Chieftain (3 versions) already and when I opened Meng's website they announced that they are presently developing a Chieftain.

Whoops I'm sorry, I thought you were looking to buy one and not sure which kit you wanted. As said I don't know if the same kit reboxed or not.

I didnt even know Meng was making a kit of the Chieftan, guess I need to look it up, the Takom ones look pretty good from the in-box reviews I've seen, but no builds yet

Well, basically to get one too. It was many years ago that I built the Tamiya Chieftain which I think was one of Tamiya's more accurate model.

constructor, i was speaking to one of the guys at the model club last night. He is building one of the the takom kits, which he said was realy nice. But he also said a lot of people seem to now be holding out for the Meng because of there reputation. I have not built kits from either company but have herad good things

I am a Norfolk man and i glory in being so

Well this should definitely make the Bristish armor guys happy. I have always read how the Tamiya Chieftans were a horrible mishmash of guesstimated parts and dimensions that looked cool to the average modeler, but didn't hold up to any serious scrutiny. I do like that BAOR one; I did one out of the Tamiya model years ago.

Hi Bish! I got me the Renault FT-17 and it's a very good model. I also got the T-90A which comes with an engine, Meng is a very detailed model with lots of parts. I have not started the '90 but I will soon.
