German AFV Tools

German AFV tools evolved during the war. Different shovels, pry bars, sledge hammers, wire cutters, fire extinguishers, S-hooks to C-hooks, they all changed. Aftermarket model tool sets seem to be divided into either early or late model designs. Obviously, a paper Panzer project would use a late war set.

Wow, thanks for going out of your way to find this set for me! If I can find a place to purchase these, I'll definitely get this set.

Tamiya 35185 might be easier to obtain (all injection plastic) -- Tamiya items have wide distributorship.

As many of you know, I'm planning on building Trumpeter's 12.8cm PaK 44 Waffentrager for the 1946 GB.

 

Many people, myself included, do not like to trudge through the drudgery or dozens upon dozens of posts that have nothing to do with your specific build or posts that include updates on planes, ships, etc, This is one of the most frustrating aspects of Group Builds--how they deny the photos and logs of the build and the completed photos. Please consider this in the future, and participate HERE in Armor, just as you have posted a question here to help you THERE.

Personally, myself, I would appreciate this, and I know many other would too.

Karl, i am trying to encourage that in the GB. I am not allowing cross overs and have have asked that instead the builders consider doing a build in the relevant forum as well as the GB. I will certainly be doing that with both of my builds, one of which is the E-100 jagdpanzer, so plenty of heavy metal for you there.

As your doing a "paper" panzer I'd be tempted to mix up the tools. For the prototypes they would I'm sure have just used anything they could find so if you have any in the spares box use them as well.

On the E-100 I built one a while back and its a big girl! Hope you have the room for it. I dont have a picture of the finished but here is the hull next to a King Tiger

Its a nice kit and I swapped out the barrel for a metal one which looks huge even in 1/35

O ye, i have noticed its on the large size. Still trying to decide on a dio. What barrel did you use for it.

I used the one for the 17cm Kanone Geschutzwagen Tiger but just the end piece not the full length, I looked at that but it would be insane that long. The muzzle is a perfect match I think.

I have the Trumpeter kit of the 17cm Kanone Geschutzwagen Tiger and that is a complete beast! I've built the Friul tracks and the weight of them alone is insane. At the same time as building the E-100 I put the lower hull for the Kanone Tiger next to it

Its the lower one here!!!

MOff, whatever you choose to get, PLEASE post your updates and photos here in the Armor forum and NOT just in the Group Builds. Your project and the projects of your fellow GB participants will most likely never be seen over there by most of the Armor forum members who would appreciate it most.

I'm currently a big fan of a Youtube modeler named Adam Mann, who's very much a rivet counter, so maybe it's wearing off on me. One of his big pet peeves is bad tool clasp molding. 

 

 

I do tend to replace all mine with PE ones, thoguh they can be fiddily to use. I have a couple of sets of Aber ones for German vehicles i rather like.
