Thanks guys. I'm not looking for a rusty look. I've read a bunch of places that German tracks didn't rust all that much anyway. This will be a pretty weathered tank though. I'm shooting for early Barbarossa look when one of these tiny tanks still was used as a scout vehicle. I like the color of the vellejo track primer. Combined with oil wash it ends up looking better than mixing black and brown etc. It's a dark reddish blown black. Hard to describe.
anyway I'll try drybrushing and oil washes. for my panzer II maybe I'll use a blackening agent and do the links separately to get a uniform color. I'm working my way from the earliest to final German armor of wwII.
