I have often said that I would like to build Tamiya's KVII, but everytime I had money, there was always something else I wanted more.  This is a very interesting build; maybe it will inspire me!

Thank you sir!  LOL!  Yeah, this year seems to be the year of multiple builds.  So I won't tell you I did Testors 1/700 USS Ohio and Soviet Alfa sub...with VERY tiny TU-95 and 2 VERY tiny KA-25B's...not sure why they put those in there, but here they are.  Another quick build...while I was waiting for paint to dry.

Built one of these years ago as a practice kit for whitewash and yeah it's one you can slap together and paint over pretty much a single weekend. 

 

I think the translation for the turret slogan is:

the ing  s and then  the ing horses they ing rode in on...    

Though I may be off on a few words there.

Isn't she?!  Next to the T34, she does make it look small.  Other then the 2 wheels, it was a great kit.  Even the 2 piece barrel was a good fit.  All the pics I saw didn't show much weathering on the tanks, so I'm going to go light on this one.  Hoping to pick up some new weathering stuff at the show tomorrow!

Those KV2's were a beast. Those old Tamiya kits go together pretty fast but it should be fun to weather.

 

It was surprisingly quick!  I mean, there wasn't much too the real thing anyway, but the detail in what is in the kit on the exterior is very nice.  No interior, but you would not be able to see much anyway.  Just 2 hatches that open and hard to see in if they are open.  Not much for decals either.  Of course they didn't paint up their tanks much...except with the propaganda slogans.  Not sure what the decal really says.  LOL!    The instructions say "For the Fatherland".  But you never know what they really say.  LOL!  Anyone read Russian?

I'm hoping to pick up some weathering stuff from Tamiya and Mig at the show tomorrow.  I think the KV-II would be a perfect test bed for some new techniques.

Thank you Sprue!  The writing is a decal.  That was the other thing about this kit.  It was so old (I buy a lot of kits at estate sales, so...) the decals were very fragile.  Didn't think I was going to get them to work, but they finally got on and with a lot of Micro Sol, they settled in.

It was a fun build.  Might have to look into some more Russian WWII tanks.  LOL!

That is a cool looking tank. Is the text on the turret a decal or hand painted? And like you said, that is weird to have short shot (wheels) in a Tamiya kit.
