Very nice job bud!

I always found this "tank" weird because it didn't have a turret yet it was classified as a tank. I always considered it a 'self-propelled gun'. Yet my opinion takes nothing away from the magnificent job that you have done. The camo is pure European and it looks great and the weathering is subtle but effective. Congratulations on a fine job.

P.S. I was going to use Google translate again but there seemed to be too many words for tank. I might have ended up saying something like "beautiful work on an interesting cystern".

Pawel, once again your skills have gotten that "little bit extra" out of the kit.  the shovel "solving" was inspired, the reflectors and head lights are top drawer.

The exhaust hose is a kit part. The problem with it is that it comes in two halves and that leaves you with the problem of removing two seams running straight across the corrugation.

Hello everybody!

in today's update I'll post some final details, because that baby will soon be done!

Let's start with the shovels - the kit has three (one for every crewmember) most 1:1 photos show three, but most model photos and the instructions show two - because that many fit. I decided to do something about it. I only kept the lowermost showel stock (almost), the upper two shovels were modified with a new handle and a blade made of sheet copper:

After some tweaking I was able to fit all three of them:

Please not the mesh at the end of the pipe and the antenna base - the antennae are made of guitar string.

I have also tackled the lights - I have painted them silver first, then I have put on a thin, translucent layer of gloss white. I have also made a new set of reflectors - the kit only gives you red decals and they are not reflective at all, my reflectors really work and have correct three colours:

I have also made the duct pipe leading the exhaust gasses away from the tank, complete with the peeling paint:

The empy casing ejection port is also painted up:

Gamera - thank you very much! I agree, that was was a good thing to do. I have prepared that wash by mixing some water and future 1:1, and I added Vallejo dark grey model wash to that, to thin it down. That worked all right.

armornut - yeah, looks like I have almost made it OOB! Thanks a lot! Althou it has its problems, that kit is definitely worth a look!

Congrats on your OOB, looks really cool. I like the camo pattern and the jerry cans hanging on the skirts. I have seen this kit but never really looked that close. Way cool.

I love that camo and the wash really makes the details 'pop'! 

You are doing a great job on an interesting subject.  The camo is excellent.

waynec - yeah, I have seen that green and white scheme on a model and I think, too, that it looks very cool. But do you have any references on this? I also have 1:72 B variant of this baby, been looking at it short time ago, but I have to tell you: watch out! 1:72 versions of it have some simplifications in their design but I also suspect they tend to confuse some features of B and C. From what I know the B version doesn't have the illum rounds on top of the drivers' hatch, but the Trumpeter model has them.

I have a C ready to mud up and put on a base. Screwed up the priming (too hot in garage) but continued anyway. Mine is a winter white and dark green pattern with the blade down. going to try some serius mud and snow base. also have a B and both also in OTS. kinda go on a Swedish kick after my Finnish kick.

Another incredible build shaping up here.

I keep thinking in my head about whether this needs something to help set the scale.

But, I can't come up with a way that an S-tank might share a space with, oh, and M-103   Or a Mk IV.  Or, for that matter, an A4 which would always have a personal connection for you.

blackdog62 - I also find this tank very interesting, I'd even say it's been fascinating me since I learned to read, because it was shown in one of the first books I've read! In some places this baby is a bit like the A-4 Skyhawk, because it shows this fascinating "inverse feature creep" - where you eliminate one thing, then in turn you don't need another thing and so on, and you end up with a very compact and capable design. This is not quite the case here, but the end result is very interesting none the less.

Now I'm going to use the cupola to test the weathereing here. My plan is simple - some dark gray wash and some lighter gray dry brushing plus a tiny bit of pin washes and chipping. Let's see how this turns out. Thanks for reading and have a nice day
