I built the early version of these 2 Tiger kits a while ago and was quite pleased with the result, especially for the price. Mine had the single link tracks too which you say yours doesn't? That's a shame as they look really nice when they're finished, although they take a long time to clean up and put together!
I had a look at the build article linked in one of the other posts and it kinda rips it apart a bit doesn't it! I'm not much of a "rivet counter" (no offence meant to anyone who is! LOL) myslf so I didn't do a lot of the accurising he mentions, only the real obvious things like the ammo bins and lubrication points. I didn't do the transverse struts as they can't really be seen once the floor is in. And being the early model I didn't need to do a lot of the stuff he mentions anyway. DO watch out for the fit of the turret roof - on mine it was really bad, make sure you dry fit it before you glue the turret halves together! What I did was just put a strip of styrene ( can't remember if it was 0.5mm or 1mm) in the rear joint before I stuck them, that allowed it to just drop in nicely and was easier than trying to sand the top down to size. And be very careful with the turret power take off in the bottom, if you don't sit it just right the turret won't sit down properly. Oh, and watch the front transmission too, if you don't fit it just right the front panel will hit it and I had to carve out the inside of the panel to get it to fit as I didn't realise until I had fitted wheels, tracks, everything!
I added some P/E for various parts on the outside and it built into a nice looking Tiger. I modelled mine on one that was used in Russia so I did it in Tamiya german grey (best match I've found for that early grey colour they used) with a very patchy coat of white over the top to imitate the whitewash they used in the winter. No pics I'm afraid as my cam is currently U/S :-(
Good luck with the build, and most of all, ENJOY! :-)
