1/35 RoG M48A2-GA2 (Completed pg. 3)
Posted by M. Brindos on Friday, June 28, 2019 4:38 PM

Picked this up and did the assembly almost a year ago. Finished up a few details yesterday but seem to have lost the water cans for the turret sides. No idea where I probably left them but I'm sure I'll come across them eventually.

For now, I've got the primer on and started a little painting, mostly of the fenders down. No major plans for this one. It was a decompression build just for the sake of building at the time.

Colors planned are Tamiya NATO black, green, and brown. Minor weathering below the fenders and add it to the garage.

Hello Mike!

Your tank is lookin' good! This kit premiered without much publicity but I have heard good things about it and the A2C that accompanied it.

Now I'm waiting for the final touches you're going to put on it...

Good luck with it and thanks for sharing, have a nice day

Hello, my friend, Pawel!

Its a good kit. The 3 piece hull, bustle rack, and smoke dispensers are it's weak spots. Those details can use improvements. That's why a used some Sculpy to make blanket to cover the bustle. The bin didn't want to line up right during construction and I wasn't in the mood to fix it.

For a decompression build it has served it's purpose well.

Detail painting,  gloss cote, decals and weathering. Not much going on with this build.

Thank you for poking in, my friend. :D

Thank you, it needs a bit of refinement still. Mostly I need to go over the brown a little bit.

Hi, Stick!

Just a wet blanket to cover the toy-like look of the bustle. Not sure if I should paint it green, camo, or red?

Hi, Gamera!

I'd like to mix this turret with an M-60 hull. That would look neat lol.

Thanks, Tiger.

Not my best work, but sometimes it feels good that the build doesn't languish for months. Even though I built this last year lol.

You could always whip up a couple of empty racks for the turret water cans......

Paint looks good, foillowing.

I could, yes. I wish I still had some of those resin ones around...

Somewhere...

But I do know I have the original ones around in a box. Just need to remember where.

Thanks, Russ.

I'm all over the place with all of these open projects of late. I really need to focus on one of them at a time.

One, really bad, picture of the decals in place. Details still need to be painted in, but I'm one step further.

Looks like the finished product looks very good. Although I'd like to see some more pics. Looking at this tank you can already see the beginnings of the Leopard tank designs.

I agree, you can see where the Leopard got a few of it's influences from the direction the GA2 was headed. This turret would look good on an M-60 chassis and I'm going to stand by that lol.

So the old Monogram "Love Bug" can go to that special place in the sky. Gone but not forgotten.

Nice sharp model there sir.

If you went the other way and put an M60 turret on a M48 hull, you would have a M48A4.

Thank you. That's straight out of the box aside from the miliput tarp over the bustle.

I still have to find enough time to give this some lengthy attention.

Working on it. Needs the details added. It's a M60A2E1. A what if the XM1 project was cancelled.

Yes, I free handed the camo. I could've made it tighter, but I was pressed for time and slapped the colors on.

Thanks, Gamera.

The M48 turret on an M60 chassis has been done by AFV Club twice. It might be a good place to start and then add the Bundeswehr specific fittings to that kit.
