Rye Field Model M-ATV (RM5032)
Posted by DMX512 on Saturday, March 14, 2020 6:48 AM

I am fairly new again to modeling and this kit has grabbed my attention.

My LHS is not ble to get it shipped in, due to it being out of stock at their distributors.

I have searched on the ole interwebs and it appears to be out of stock everywhere in the US.

Is it common for a model kit that was released in Nov 2019 ( I believe ) to be discontinued? Could it be out of stock because of demand for the subject/manufacturer and I should just cool my jets and wait before trying other options?

Thanks in advance.

Yes, this is pretty common.  Models are molded in batches of X at a time.  The company then goes on and molds another model batch.  If it is popular and the batch sells out quickly, you have to wait until they mold another batch to get it.

Or the models haven't reached the US shops yet if it was just released in November.  My guess is that this is the case since there are a bunch of them available on eBay from Asian suppliers.  https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=m570.l1313&_nkw=1%2F35+rye+field+m-atv&_sacat=0

DMX512, below is a limited source in Austin, Texas on eBay. However, the seller is asking almost twice what you could buy it for from Asian sources. Some people use eBay like an investment business. They see something popular, buy a quanity and offer it at a higher price.

I kinda figured it might be something like that.

I always go to my LHS first, and actually have not had the need to elsewhere yet.

I might just wai a bit and see.

Thanks

Go to Scale Hobbyist and get on their notify list for that kit. As soon as they get it in you will get an e-mail.  When you get the e-mail go to the site and buy it right away.

I've done this numerous times for kits that sell out the first run.  It works every time.

I am building that kit right now. it's a beautiful kit, however there is a lot of photo etch.

Not a shake and bake kit, but it's a pleasure to build. the full interior and engine are well done. You might want to order the resin wheel set.

i bought the kit from a local model shop, but you can get them off the web
